Agreed on every point you made mindgrind. But for me FiOS is still a great value. Awesome PQ, Great movie pack and VOD, Decent DVR with the ability to interface with Tivo, fast internet, reliable phone and savings of about $12/mo are keeping me a customer.

You can still take the ugly dishes off the roof and not expose the roof to leaks by just leaving the mounting plate attached to the roof. After I switched to fios, I looked thru the local pennysaver and found a "cable guy" who for $75 took down both my dishes and my squareshooter antenna...

From my understanding, If you use Tivo with Fios you will lose the abilty to watch On Demand and PPV.

The Movie pack at $12.99/month includes Showtime HD , TMC HD and STARZ HD. Plus gives you access to all the VOD content from each of them. Thats a darn good deal!

Tom- How difficult was it to switch back? I mean the FIOS installer must have moved the coax from the DISH to the FIOS box right? DID DIsh offer to re connect you for free? My wife really wants on Demand so I'm thinking I might try the FIOS.

I Live on Long Island and the FIOS guy came knocking on my door yesterday. I scheduled an install date of 7/13. But now I'm second guessing myself. I am really happy with my Dish 942 and 611. I have Verizon for my landline and DSL. If I get the FIOS, I get all three services $10/mo cheaper...

Bottom line, for the here and now you'll have alot more HD channels with Dish and you wont have to deal with that S L O W as molasses HD Tivo.

When I had D* they put some awesome movies on their HD Pay Per View channel. Why cant E* do the same? All I've been seeing on the guide is a Benji the dog movie in HD! WTF??

It amazes me that thousands of people felt it wasnt worth the 5 minutes time and effort to send in for a $100 rebate. Boy I feel like a poor schlep since I mailed in a $3 Cherrios rebate yesterday. :(

I would ask for a name and fax number. If they refuse, tell them they can keep your service off permanently and they'll transfer you to retention.

I did think about the single OTA tuner issue. However, the fact that E* carries the CBS Hd feed helped mute this shortcoming. I do not watch Lost or Desperate or any other show on ABC. Now that Star trek Enterprise is off the air, I no longer watch UPN. NBC doesnt have much in HD that I like...

One would think that with the acquisition of Rainbow 1, Ergen would quickly add the HD local digital feeds for ABC, NBC, & FOX. D* already offers all of them and E* only offers CBS. (I'm in New York City) Has anyone heard when this might happen? Thanks!

I have a philips DVDR77. Its really cool. It also has a media slot to plug in cards from digital cameras. Playback quality on my Samsung DLP using component looks nearly HD.

I havent installed my 942 yet. My DVD recorder has component inputs. I'll have the component out going to the DVD rec and the HDMI going to the TV. Will I be able to use both outputs at the same time?

I use my Harmony 659 just perfectly with the HR10-250

Judging from the backlash on this board, I'd say it just a matter of time before D* realizes their mistake. They're gonna see the low ratio of ST/HD subs vs. superfan subs and reverse their decision.

Great note to Ergen. He's gotton alot of abuse on forums like this and its nice to show some support. Charlie Dolan may have invented it, but its Charlie Ergen whose perfecting it! Switching back to E* from D* on May 21!

A smart card to me is the removable credit card sized thing with the little chip on it. Once you permanantly make it part of the motherboard, to me it becomes just another chip. IMHO. Its a silly thing to argue mdonnely but its a slow day at work so why not. :D
