How often does rain fade happen to satellite receivers?

Rain fade. If you listen to cable company commercials, you would think this is a massive problem. They’ll tell you that every time the skies turn grey, the satellite reception will stop. They’ll make you feel like a sap for even considering satellite TV. The problem is, they’re just flat out...

A bonding wire has already been run to this dish waiting for the new rod to be driven into the ground at the dish. It runs from a sub-panel at the back of the house that branches off of the main panel. A certified electrician has checked all this and signed off on everything. I have to take...

IF you pound a new ground rod into the ground by the dish, it MUST be bonded to your house ground rod by your power panel per NEC code. Otherwise it's almost guaranteed to cause problems due to two different ground potentials at each rod.

I never connect or disconnect anything without powering them down first. Even the HDMI cable. I also checked output voltage from the receiver to the LNBF. Everything normal there and from the wall wart supplying power to the receiver. I have a 30 amp, filtered and regulated power supply for my...

Trying to get into C-Band, may have found a dish?

I don't have numbers, but this is what I remember: - the entire reflector is a bit too heavy for one guy to carry (plus it's big and awkward). - Each quarter pannel is easy to lift, but still a bit bulky and awkward to carry. - there's a round reinforcement tube that makes a circle of around 7ft...

Trying to get into C-Band, may have found a dish?

Ideally you can stand on the roof to dismantle rather than use ladders. I would loosen the bolts so you can spin it on the pole to a good position to work. I would first unbolt the actuator from the mount so it will hang on the dish. This will prevent you poking a hole in the mesh if the dish...

Trying to get into C-Band, may have found a dish?

Do you know roughly how heavy the dish is? I’m a bit concerned how high it’s mounted but if it’s not that heavy then shouldn't be an issue.

Trying to get into C-Band, may have found a dish?

$45 is an awesome price! I would suggest you take it down, possibly with assistance from the seller, but that you lead the effort. Those things need to be taken down carefully... I've read too many stories of people like us who were so happy to have found a nice dish in great shape, only to go...

I did and everything was within range. I've had two different LNBF's on it and located another last evening I may try if the rain let's up today. It's weird it took so many receivers to finally get a picture and signal. When I first started realigning the dish, the meter kept pegging out and...
