MY KU LNB and diseqc switch getting burned.

Where is the DiSEqC switch located? Where is the multi-switch located? Is the multi-switch powered or passive? Is the dish grounded? If so, where? Is the dish ground bonded to the structure ground? Test the LNB voltage on both vertical and horizontal transponders. Check for voltage potential...

    fta no free channels

Considering that it's a small dish, and that the LNBF polarization does not match the satellite polarization, 42% might be all you're getting. I tried it yesterday with a much larger dish and I don't think i was getting more than 60%. Having the wrong polarization type means that not only are...

For anyone South using Shaw / switching to xKu

I have a question, can we use a different generic lnbf for Anik F1 107.3W satellite instead of KUSAT F1x twin offered by Kusat? Perhaps an lnb with the same technical specs than the Kusat F1x twin. Or definitely there's no other lnb that can be used?

    New Orby install

My question was more along the lines of how does the receiver communicate to the LNB which polarity it wants (unless vertical is always the default polarity). I'm given to believe that there were different switching schemes employed depending on the Primestar LNB used.

    New Orby install

We it uses voltage to power the LNB however since all the transponders (both of them) use the same polarity then I am told you can use a splitter for multi room installs. (No switch needed) Sent from my iPhone using SatelliteGuys

    directv satelite change?

It doesn't matter if they quit broadcasting to customers from 110 & 119, so long as they have satellites up there they are fulfilling the conditions of their license. When those satellites get old, if they don't move something into place then they are no longer fulfilling the terms of their...

OTHER Wave Frontier Toroidal T-90 multi-LNB dish

45W could be a bit of a challenge as it's not very powerful. But 30W should be easy (i can get most transponders with a re-purposed DT Slimline), while 34.5W is a bit more difficult here but should be stronger in FL.

    What is Orby TV?????

The 117W bird, Eutelsat 117A (formerly SatMex 8) is a FSS (fixed satellite service) satellite, I looked to try and find the power levels of the Ku transponders, but couldn't find any information. Generally they are not as powerful as the BSS (broadcast satellite service) birds that DirecTV and...

    What is Orby TV?????

Will test more after the ORBY TV LNBF arrives. Yes, quality copper stinger, quad shield RG-6 with clean DigiCon fittings. Yes, there will be a voltage drop, but 5Vdc drop would be abnormal. Most of us would not have horizontal channels with a LNBF if there was a 5Vdc drop on a 125' coax...

    Sonicview 8000HD - 1080/hd picture quality

As I was reading the thread about the new Edision and got flashback about this. The last time I played with Enigma 2 was on a DGStation (about 10 years ago) and it took for ever to scan for channels. I would start the scan, eat dinner, come back and it was still scanning. After it is done, I...

    Adventures of Wyatt Earp

Well, spec-wise, it should be doable with a minibud. Same specs as the Lesea mux. As for the Shepherds Chapel, that's dvb-s2 8psk Fec 3/4, which means you need a C/N of 7.9, that should be harder to get. Perhaps they are doing something else with the signal, not pushing full power, etc. Just...

DirecTV Slim Line in Florida for FTA, need help

Can't set it to standard and get 10750, but in universal I can set the start to 10750, but then it has a second, not sure if I have to set that. I can set the elevation to 53.2 per the dish pointer, and it shows which way to point, but I get nothing above a small yellow level. I put the dish...

DirecTV Slim Line in Florida for FTA, need help

It sounds like you have an Amiko receiver. Set the LNB to Standard (10750 is the starting frequency). I would start with 97W, it is a very strong satellite with many different high-powered transponders :) I've never had much luck with those simple tone signal meters. If you are able, take the...

ABC Feeds, I'm NOT saying it again : - (((

There are no issues with these ABC feeds, but a dish and feed must be perfectly optimized to reliably receive them. If you are receiving both vertical and horizontal channels on different satellites, the servo motor and the wiring are working fine. BTW, you purchased the servo on Ebay from me...

    What is reverse band?

There's no particular reason why it should have lower signal quality, Directv is authorized for the same power level as Ka and Ku. Either they are broadcasting reverse band at a lower power level for some reason, or there is something in the design of the reverse band LNB that causes it be...

KU Band Transponder gets decent signal but 0 SNR, what can be done to fix it?

That satellite (Eutelsat 117WA) has 3 Ku beams: - Hemi - covers most of the Americas - NAFTA - US, Mexico, Southern Canada, a bit of Guatemala - South America - does not include Central America (cuts off in Panama) (there's also Eutelsat 117WB but all of its transponders are in lower Ku band)...

    Power inserter needed?

yes, probably, but i'm interested if anyone has actually measured it. In SWM mode you don't actually need the 13/18v transponder selection voltage.

    Power inserter needed?

Hi, Hope someone can help me out there with this "minor" issue, but all my channels seem to work although sometimes a 'light' rain will cause some satellite searching. I have a H23-600 receiver with a sl5s4nr5-01 SWM LNB (5 satellite LNB), there is just this one receiver connected directly to...

    USALS

USALS is a calculated aiming program that works with USALS HH motors to automatically aim a calibrated dish/motor at the selected satellite. Typically it is used for KU band motors. It does not work with DiSEqC 1.2 based controllers. There are a few KU motor install guides on this site that...

    Trouble setting eastern arc sat’s

Update. I pulled the antenna off the mast and changed it to the numbers from dishpointer.com.while the antenna was off the mast I corrected it to be level, it was off a small amount. I pointed the antenna to the general direction shown on the dishpointer.com web site. I rotated the antenna very...

    fta in Hawaii

I went ahead and ordered the satmeter brt203 mentioned and I have another dish coming on wednesday. Yes, I'm using the freesat tuner that many people use successfully. changing the transponder settings did not help. I still just see 60% signal and 0% quality. It seems like 60% kicks in just as...

Thinking of going with Shaw in California, have a few questions

F2 traditionally was the HD bird but there are several transponders on F1R now that carry HD. Beginning in spring of 2019 as standard definition signals are dropped and the final conversion to an almost entirely HD lineup happens most of what is on F2 will be moved to F1R. F2 is getting old...

    Multi LNB single dish

I'm skeptical about getting 4 degrees reliably on a 75cm dish. At the very least I would expect to have to use the special LNBs that they used to sell to get 101W and 97W on a 90cm dish. I easily got 6 degrees on a no-name 76cm dish when I was getting started. I had them pointed at 91W, 97W...
