    Using commercial receivers for recording?

Does anybody have any experience with that Octagon SF8008 Supreme dual tuner receiver that Rick is selling? Can it output TS files? It appears to be similar to the Edision receivers that have a WebIf interface and streaming capabilities. https://rickssatelliteusa.com/sf8008supreme.htm

For anybody interested, here is the back of the Arris: And the back of the Ericsson (below it is an old Tandberg receiver)

    Using commercial receivers for recording?

On the Ericsson and Arris receivers, the WebIf port is only to control the receiver; it can't stream video on that port that I know of.

    Using commercial receivers for recording?

I appreciate all the information, and it's also fascinating to talk to someone who worked at a high level in the industry. The Arris and Ericsson receivers we have are obviously capable of more functionality than I'll ever be able to utilize, but I am learning. Unfortunately the network we're...

    Using commercial receivers for recording?

That's ok, it doesn't need to record if I can capture the stream on the PC.

    Using commercial receivers for recording?

In a nutshell, it won't do what I want it to do, right?

    Using commercial receivers for recording?

This is the manual. It loses me at page 84 when it refers to the "destination IP address."

    Using commercial receivers for recording?

Yes I think it can, but where is it sending it and how do you access it?

    Using commercial receivers for recording?

PS this is related to my previous thread from September about streaming directly from receivers to PC without transcoding. So far it seems only the Edision is capable of this. https://www.satelliteguys.us/xen/threads/streaming-from-receivers-to-pc.417956/ Hoping either the Ericsson or Arris...

    Using commercial receivers for recording?

I've been using my Edision OS Mini 4K to record TS files, and it does a great job. The issue is it only has one tuner. I would like to be able to record TS files for both C and KU from the same receiver. I then use TSReader to anaylze the streams for bitrate and other modulation parameters, or...

Looking to buy a new setup

This is the 1.2m I have. Again, price is outrageous. In 2020 it was less than $400 shipped. https://www.ebay.com/itm/255658550304

Looking to buy a new setup

This is probably the best 90cm money can buy, unfortunately the price has gone stratospheric. When I bought mine in 2016, it was less than $100 including shipping. https://satelliteav.com/gs90/

Looking to buy a new setup

The GTMedia GTX Combo does play 4:2:2 natively. It also blind scans. For complex 4:2:2 feeds you will need to stream to a computer. This receiver is about $135 on Ebay. Probably the best LNB you can get right now is the Bullseye TCXO, although it might be overkill depending on what you're...

Changes coming for MLB broadcast next year

MLB has (had) multiple teams in Canada and have floated the idea of a team in Mexico City. Why can't the NFL have teams in other countries?
