I did. You're using outdated equipment that is on the verge of being obsolete and it's time to upgrade. You can buy a Wally for $59, own it and install it just as you always have been doing. As with all technology, support ends and newer, updated options become available.

Why wouldn't you want to upgrade to a Wally? It's a much better overall experience.

Back in the day, both Dish and DirecTV got the customer lists from companies selling equipment used to hack their services and went after them. They sent demand letters for thousands of dollars and sued if they didn't pay up.

The boxes with the malware aren't Google approved and don't have the Play Store. Your Shield is just fine.

Of course it's not legit. Dish has sued some of the companies selling these boxes but I haven't seen them go after users yet. I wouldn't chance it.

That's my setup, a Wally runs to all TVs in the house. With streaming and OTA, there's no need for every TV to be tuned to a different Dish channel, this isn't 2005.

I still say the Wally is the way to go. They're only $60/ea, the second one is $5/mo and after the one time DVR fee, no other monthly fees. Uses the same LNB as the 722 and connects up like all the old school Dish receivers telstar is familiar with. It's as close to the Dish experience in 1997...

My Wally has been very sluggish lately. I hit the skip ahead button and nothing happens for a couple seconds.

If it's crashing and rebooting, it's usually the caps. Pull the cover and see if any are bulging.

Well....I can tell you why :biggrin I had two 50.0 remotes paired to a Wally. Used one of them to go into sys info and pair the 60.0. The 60.0 immediately assumed the identity of the 50.0 I went into the sys info with! Same name, same TV brand. Problem is, it also caused the other 50.0 to do...

Yes and if you add the OTA tuner it gives you 4 tuners to record from. Poor man's Hopper.

I just tell them it's completely dead and won't do anything to avoid the flowchart of checks they have. I hung on to my ViPs too long, should have switched to a Wally long before I did.

I get what you're saying but that's old school thinking. People can subscribe to YTTV, but their own streaming devices (or just used apps already built into their TV) and stream 3 channels at the same time for no additional cost. To me it only makes sense to buy Wallys. Avoid the DVR fee and...
