I keep seeing advertisements for an android box (I wont mention the name) that can stream all kinds of content. Some of the video's I watched lead me to believe that these boxes can stream paid services without paying. How can that be legal? I suspect it is not.

They retransmit video channels as IPTV streams, package them and sell them as cheap subscription packages

It's the retransmission and charging for it as a "legit" package that has Dish and the FBI upset about it.

The one I saw wasn't a subscription package. You pay $400 up front and that's it. I believe you are reliant on their servers feeding you the premium content. The whole thing stinks of piracy and theft of service.

There was a company selling them at a fair up here, and they sold tons. Two people at my office purchased one and loved it... until a few months later the service stopped working and they were stuck with a $400 box that was locked down which became garbage.

Looks like Netflix/Warner Bros. is happening.
