    Cold weather signal loss

Is it the same as an old D500? I mean dimensionally such as focal length, etc. (it appears to be identical other than the "Y," the LNBF and the black paint). Would this new "Y" go on the old 500?

    Cold weather signal loss

Talking about the new 500? They don't need 3 positions anymore, at least on WA, so being back to 110/119 it's back to 500 as all the dish that is needed, but they're now offering a new twin (beyond the HDD Twin) for the hopper era. I say "offering," but I think they're thus far restricting it to...

    Cold weather signal loss

I used radial-taper crimping, which could possibly be considered compressive as it leaves a seamless, tapered crimp that resists moisture intrusion if has o-ring.. Most others were using some kind of multi-part fitting with a plastic center. I don't even know what to call those. Compression?

Happy New Year! The future of SatelliteGuys

You still haven't thrown out all those AOL discs?

DISH Has Made it Impossible to be a VIP211k Owner

Yes, that is always doable but may consume more HDD space. It's just in digital-to-digital transferrence that they get much worked up about it.

    Cold weather signal loss

Generally sat electronics work better in cold, not worse. These described issues of sudden unexplained loss in cold sound exactly like the postulated too-short coax center conductor- physical contraction of circuit elements. Possibly something in the LNBF could be contacting and breaking circuit.

DISH Has Made it Impossible to be a VIP211k Owner

Afaik what you export from DiSH to external storage is yours to keep, indefinitely, for personal use. Likewise for shows you have the rx capture, as it would be from your subscribed/paid content. The only thing that seems unclear to me would be DiSH's forward-going interests as far as your...

Future of C-band Radio Content Distribution

C-band TVRO (been awhile since I've seen that term) has been gone for years now, hasn't it? I mean as a subscription service.

Android TV on Hopper 3 Without Plus Upgrade?

I have Android on my Sony TV. Though I generally avoid the googlesphere. Really sluggish navigating apps. Nest thermostat, too...man it's hard to avoid google

What's still on c-band, particularly at such low power to need 10'?

Satellite Channels Moving to Streaming Only

Wait for bad weather to shut it down, then pull the coax.

    Satellite Direct magazine has folded

I didn't know they had one. I do remember in the 80s when if someone asked what was on that thing you could toss a guide nearly an inch thick at them

New Amazon show in production - Fallout

The theaters are desperate for content, so maybe some of this can make its way to the cineplex to run alongside comics movies, vampires, zombies, godflix and gorefests.

DISH Has Made it Impossible to be a VIP211k Owner

I was surprised when they allowed DVR at all on a non-HDD rx.

I've never heard of anyone wanting to switch from Macs to Macrosoft

Space X to Merge with EchoStar?

Maybe a ph. line as well, like in The Twilight Zone...?
  18. T

DISH Has Made it Impossible to be a VIP211k Owner

Not exactly, as that would imply a unitary rx/HDD. To further the point, does connecting EHD to a 222 make for dual HD recording? Regardless, yes, there are definite constraints as far as using a 211- adding the EHD makes it DVR-capable, but only a single channel may be tuned at any time, either...

DISH Has Made it Impossible to be a VIP211k Owner

Wasn't the purpose of EHDs to add holding capacity, back-up & preserve recordings on a long scale such that if the rx goes kaput you don't lose them? Have there been any known system-initiated deletions of recordings from rx/dvr units (such as hopper and ViP)? Other than for the HD being filled up?

Space X to Merge with EchoStar?

You could have a granite dish, perpetually aimed between 110 and 119.

DISH Has Made it Impossible to be a VIP211k Owner

You still need a wired connection back to hopper, right? Saturn went out of business, evidently along with its marketing model. I remember when states were bidding against each other to get saturn for a big economic and jobs boost. Anything still happening at the saturn plant? Illinois lost out...
