    More happened, couldn't watch a recording done earlier today , not from pixelation, just very jerky. I was recording on a OTA channel, & it stopped, lost all OTA. The adapter wasn't hot, just warm. Tomorrow I'll try to extend the adapter to see if that helps.

    This does happen, and my solutions are this: (1) unplug the OTA adapter, and (2) restarting the Joey from time to time. Not optimal. but seems to solve it f for a bit. I do not know why. I have noticed that the OTA adapter gets very hot.

    Sounds like it's getting hot./ One thing I see people on here say they've done is plug a Laptop cooling dock into a USB Port on the hopper and set the OTA Adapter on it to keep it cool.

    For what it's worth, I used nylocks to strap a computer fan to my OTA adapter and it works better. It takes a USB plug power source. I got that suggestion from the forum and who ever that is, thank you. Sent from my SM-G965U1 using Tapatalk

    I was wanting to purchase the OTA adapter for hooking my OTA antenna into my hopper 3. I have read reviews on this adapter and some says it gets very hot and some were afraid to keep it hooked up.. Has anyone in the satellite guy community experienced this problem with this adapter. thanks

    Maybe so, but it doesn't seem like it in my case. If it is overheating, why does changing to an OTA channel from the Joey and then back to a satellite channel resolve the problem for the rest of that night's viewing? Watching/recording OTA always seems to work just fine.

    It helps you by removing the Internet connection from being a reason for your problem. Do you have an OTA Antenna connected to your Hopper? Is it the older Dish adapter or the newer Lark adapter, if so? The older adapter gets hot and causes pixelation on the Joeys

    I believe it always runs hot. I have one of the original Hauppauge dual tuners that runs hot, but it has never caused any problems for me. I suppose sometimes it's possible to get a good one.

    Tuner sensitivity is a big player. Neighbor runs straight into a Sony flat screen. The DISH OTA adapter is much less sensitive it seems and probably why the thing runs so hot - electricity is being converted into heat.
