    Another C Band Rescue Mission

Nice dish, and it looks like there isn't any torn mesh or hail damage. I don't think I have ever seen a grey Parabolics East dish before. I immediately thought it was a Winegard quadstar. As an added bonus you got a nice VW actuator with the 8 magnet wheel.

    Command Performance H to H

I am a small business owner, so unfortunately my hobbies like satellite often get sidetracked. I am still having problems getting the housing to separate. I don't want to force anything, as the housing is cast and obviously getting parts is out of the question. The other issue is my workshop...

First C-Band Dish Need Motor Suggestions

I could be mistaken, but that sure looks like a 1.8 Prodelin which would be around 6 feet.

    The General / KSAT / C-SAT information

Unfortunately I don't have much to add except to say that I was fortunate to meet your Dad. It was during the CES in Las Vegas around 90 or 91. Shaun Kenny rented a room for a presentation and Chuck Dawson was a guest speaker. Your Dad was a very good communicator.

    Command Performance H to H

Thank you for the great information! I am in the process of refurbishing the 2 motors but have encountered a bit of a problem in that I can't seem to get the housing apart. I don't know if there is a bolt I am missing or it simply requires a bit of force to get it apart. I will post more...

    Command Performance H to H

I can't believe it, but I actually found another one of these Command Performance H to H motors. This one was being used to move a 12 foot Paraclipse. I found it in the same town where I got the first one. Perhaps a local dealer promoted these and there might be more. In both cases the dishes...

Position keeps changing with new actuator

If you are using shielded cable you should have one bare wire which is called the drain. Ground this drain wire at the positioner (GBox) but do not connect the drain at the actuator. I was told this at a satellite show in Vegas many years ago. I don't even know why it works. lol

Any active transponders on 137w or 139w?

139w AMC-6 4056H 13250 I used to get this satellite (poorly) here in central Canada. I was cleaning up my C-band arc today and now can't get any signal. Is this satellite still active or did they change the footprint again? Thanks

    Repurposing broken actuators

I have often wondered about this myself. Could you use a satellite actuator as an electric trailer hitch jack? It would be easy to fabricate and weld the attachment bracket. A reversing switch would be needed and a 12v to 36v circuit would be easy to build. Does it however have enough torque to...

Parabolics East H to H motor

Thanks for the reply! I am going to try your suggestion with the electrolysis rust removal. I have always wondered about that so here is my chance to give it a try. There are a couple of local suppliers of gears so I will visit them and see if they have a match or can order one in. The PC...

Parabolics East H to H motor

If you look at the photo, third down from the top of the original post, there is a picture of the sensor gear train. Is that what is broke or missing on your H to H? Mine is in good shape so I can measure and count the teeth if you still want to try and find a gear somewhere. If you don't want...

Parabolics East H to H motor

Thank you for the great information. I never considered that the magnets might be broken. Hopefully the motor parts are common enough that I can obtain replacements if needed. I am surprised how rusted the inside of this mount is. Yes, it sat outside for many years but the cover was on.

Parabolics East H to H motor

I finally have some spare time with summer over so I thought I better start restoring the H to H motors that I have in storage. I decided to begin with the oldest one which is the Parabolics East. I sprayed everything with WD-40 and everything is coming apart ok. Unfortunately I discovered a...

    5G Interference on all Transponders

I like your idea and would like to give this a try with my C-band dish. I wonder if there is a spray on product that would provide the same result as the aluminum foil?

Trying to get into C-Band, may have found a dish?

How do those 7.5 dishes perform with 2 degree spacing? You are assuming that after he repairs the torn mesh and the feed support rods that the dish is parabolic. I have never attempted to repair an egg shaped dish. Perhaps it can be done. I guess if you are retired and have the time, you could...
