Parabolics East H to H motor

Thanks for the reply! I am going to try your suggestion with the electrolysis rust removal. I have always wondered about that so here is my chance to give it a try. There are a couple of local suppliers of gears so I will visit them and see if they have a match or can order one in. The PC...

Parabolics East H to H motor

If you look at the photo, third down from the top of the original post, there is a picture of the sensor gear train. Is that what is broke or missing on your H to H? Mine is in good shape so I can measure and count the teeth if you still want to try and find a gear somewhere. If you don't want...

Parabolics East H to H motor

Thank you for the great information. I never considered that the magnets might be broken. Hopefully the motor parts are common enough that I can obtain replacements if needed. I am surprised how rusted the inside of this mount is. Yes, it sat outside for many years but the cover was on.

Parabolics East H to H motor

I finally have some spare time with summer over so I thought I better start restoring the H to H motors that I have in storage. I decided to begin with the oldest one which is the Parabolics East. I sprayed everything with WD-40 and everything is coming apart ok. Unfortunately I discovered a...

    5G Interference on all Transponders

I like your idea and would like to give this a try with my C-band dish. I wonder if there is a spray on product that would provide the same result as the aluminum foil?

Trying to get into C-Band, may have found a dish?

How do those 7.5 dishes perform with 2 degree spacing? You are assuming that after he repairs the torn mesh and the feed support rods that the dish is parabolic. I have never attempted to repair an egg shaped dish. Perhaps it can be done. I guess if you are retired and have the time, you could...

Trying to get into C-Band, may have found a dish?

I hate to tell you this my friend, but that dish belongs in the scrapyard. First of all it is way too small at 7.5 feet. The actuator is probably still good, so save that. Spend your time and energy on finding a nice 10 footer. I don't know where you live, but there has to be better dishes than...

    Command Performance H to H

Unfortunately I haven't had time to do anything with the mount. I am also embarrassed to say that I have 2 other H to H mounts that I need to rebuild. I am currently working on a project with my 2.4M offset prodelin that I will post on the forum soon. Being a self employed business owner...

    Command Performance H to H

I am guessing that it is 36V. I am not going to power it up until I disengage the motor from the drive assembly and verify that it will turn freely. I am hoping that a simple cleaning/degreasing will be all that is needed without having to change any parts.

    Command Performance H to H

The distributor in southern Ontario you might be thinking of was Tee-Com. They were the largest distributor in Canada, but I don't think they carried these. They sold a mesh dish called the Alpha 10 which was very well made with a big 36" ring. They looked a lot like the Cabot and perhaps were...

    Command Performance H to H

Thanks for the info! The dish in the older post is the same as the one I took down. Unfortunately most of the panels were destroyed. The dish was a real pain to take apart. They used round stove bolts with a slot head. Why??? lol Of course they were all rusted so I basically had to use 2 vice...

    Command Performance H to H

I was finally able to obtain this mount, that I have been negotiating with the owner for months now. It was on a bar, and the owner thought his dishes were still worth the thousands he paid for them back in the 80's lol. This is the biggest, heavy-duty, H to H mount that I have ever seen. The...

    New C-Band Installation

I got busy with summer and forgot to finish this thread. lol Preparing the pipe I had this pipe in storage for years. As you can see it is a 4 1/2 OD. I like to use 4 1/2 OD because it gives less flex than the 3 1/2 OD. Most 10 foot dishes (especially mesh) will require a 3 1/2 OD pipe. If you...
