it might be significant... I think I remember a conversation a few years ago involving several forum members (I think you were invoved) where we were experimenting with SDR and the software demodulator that is available online, and the Maverick appeared to be the key to success. I have one, I...

I was able to lock WPR on my MIO4K and get the service list. I have not been able to scan them in yet as locking takes forever. Not the frequency difference...12029 for me... I used my SDR to figure that out. I'm using a GeoSatPro SL4 PLL, LO=10750

yes that's also what i'm using for OTA. I get about 40 channels for Hartford CT and New York City but rarely watch anything

with TNAP 5.1 and the special driver I was able to lock all 3 of the low bitrate radio transponders on 117W C-band, respectively at 667, 675 and 833 kS/s. Using a Titanium C2-PLL LNBF I also use TNAP 5.1 but revert to 4.2 if i need to use the OTA dongle tuner.

172E Eutelsat 172B Ku in NA?

that does not seem to match the frequency plan of Eutelsat 172B: http://frequencyplansatellites.altervista.org/Eutelsat/Eutelsat_172B.pdf except for 12600 and 12645 12229 is a perfect match for one of the transponders on Horizon3e @ 169E...

    New user - old Birdview

yeah that does sound like the arm itself is badly damaged (probably stripped screw). Not something that can be easily fixed. might be worth keeping an eye on Facebook marketplace and Craigslist for anyone getting rid of an old C-band dish in your area, with some luck you'll find one with an old...

    New user - old Birdview

I'm not particularly familiar with that specific actuator, but there are basicaly 3 main components, and all could have suffered from degradation over time: - the motor - the gears - the acme screw and nut (or equivalent) Looks like the gears had plenty of grease so might be ok My suggestion...

    Anik F3 118 discussion

i think i read somewhere a long time ago that the polarity og AnikF3 is switchable from circular to linear a regular dish500 LNBF (made for typical DBS range, with LO=11250) would not work on Anik F3 (11.7-12.2), unless you have an OSMIO4k/plus running TNAP 5.1 with the modified driver that...

    Intelsat 18 180.0E Ku

how do you record a full transponder dump? I have an Enigma2 receiver, but i think that only records the specific program, not the full transponder, right I also have an old DVBWorld PCI card, but i'm not sure if it can lock those high-bitrate transponders (I'm asking out of curiosity as...

Chinese Equivalent of Lyngsat for Eastern Hemisphere

that's cool, thanks for sharing! I was just looking at the list of satellites and noticed that some are also receiveable in Western Europe (Türksat @42E for example). Also, maybe due to their geographical location, I notice that 177W is listed as 183E (just like Intelsat usually does), and...

for the diseqc switches, look at Hypermegasat, a great site owned by fellow member Casey (as mentionned by Pepper). Also look up hypermegasat on ebay as he sometimes offers some bundles that don't appear on the website. He also offers an Enigma2 receiver from Edision, but seems to be...

welcome to the hobby! Some great obeservations but I have to disagree about the phone compass. If I used mine to align a dish, I might get TV from Mars and Jupiter but not from the usual satellites. I find them to be incredibly unstable and inacurate. And by consequence, AR apps that show the...

    How am I getting this?

there's the 3dB attenuation, but a strong signal is not enough in itself. Think of circular as diagonal - a mix of H and V. and from the perspective of circular signals, think of linear also as a mix of L and R. So when you have a strong transponder that is circular, by using a linear LNBF...

The future of the FTA hobby

not just satellite TV, in my opinion, but linear TV broadcasting in general is dying, whether it's on satellite, cable or OTA. Broadcast of course is still very relevant for live events (sports, news, etc.) but people are no longer into having their schedule directed by TV schedules, and...

Good idea to physically combine two ku band dishes?

yes I think that's the one I remember, but could not remember what the result was

Good idea to physically combine two ku band dishes?

in theory, it might be possible. You would have to make a feedhorn with waveguides that bring both signals together with the exact same phase (equal length of waveguide). in practicality, this would be very difficult to achieve, abd it would be much easier and cheaper to just get a 90 cm dish...

Wondering what channels I can get with some old equipment.

Those dishes should be ok for most Ku signals as long as you don't mind losing them during heavy rain/snow. They might be a tad too small for weaker signals like Montana PBS on 99W or LPB on 87W, depending on your location. But once you get a new LNBF mounted, they are definitely worth a try...

    How accurate is Lyngsat today?

if you are getting other things on the same transponder and not that service, usually that means you did things right and the service is not there. Happens quite often.

    Using C/KU LNB

C/Ku LNBFs are usually a bit of a compromise, particularly on the Ku side. However in the specific case of 101W Ku, the only transponder with TV channels is rather easy to receive, so that might work just fine. as long as you have a bit of margin on your C-band reception in case the combo als...
