FCC Votes to Clear at Least 100MHz of Upper C-Band Spectrum

Hi comfortably_ numb, Is 6g that much faster 5g ?? Is it REALLY needed ? Basically I think this is a "pissing contest" between the U.S. And China for technical bragging rights and we hobbiests are suffering the consequences. John

    NBC on 105W

Brct203, I just checked the TVRO Sat. site this morning (Sunday) and their satellite update now shows NBC east and west removed as you stated. Earlier yesterday they were listed fta. Well that didn't last long. 😕 John

    NBC on 105W

WhiteBeard, They have been encrypted for some time now, but yesterday’s post from TVRO Sat indicated they were one again, FTA. John

    NBC on 105W

comfortably_numb, I wasn’t looking as much for the NBC sports feed, but rather the east and west feeds so I can catch the Nightly News. When I went to 105w to scan this frequency, it showed up on my scan but never loaded due to it being 16spk. John

    NBC on 105W

Hi all, Good news…according to TVRO Sat, NBC east and west is FTA at 4020H 30,000. Bad news…at least for me, it’s 16spk. I can’t receive it.😕 John

I want to add Ku Band to my Cband Dish.

Hyper, Glad to read you’re making progress. I attached a sidecar to my 8 foot solid dish several years ago and it’s performing very well. At Titanium’s suggestion, I used a pipe hanger, slightly modified to attach my kU lnb, with great results. Most of the signals on 97w for example, come in...

    Another Spectrum Auction?

k4otl, I'm glad I got into the BUD game early (1991). The variety of viewing options that was available then, was outstanding. Now it seems we're slowly being squeezed out of this hobby.😕 John

    Satellite list

Brct203, Although not as comprehensive as the site you mentioned, I use TVRO Sat as a satellite reference. Their listings are the most up to date one I know of. John

Need some help - 8 foot Unimesh install

comfortably_numb, That occasional drop out is either caused by a tree branch, blowing in the wind blocking the signal or 5g interference. I speak from personal experience with both. John

    Tree Trimming ??

cyberham, I live on Cape Cod where everything is ridiculously expensive, but I still love it here. I believe with many tree trimmers/cutters around, I will be able to work a fair price for trimming, just gotta keep looking and read reviews. I'll also have to paint my solid dish sometime this...

    Tree Trimming ??

FTA4PA, I actually like the shade this tree offers, it just needs to be trimmed a bit at the top. John

    Tree Trimming ??

Ancient and primestar31, Thanks for your response and suggestion, but that’s way too risky for me to attempt. I’m still looking for an affordable tree trimmer to do the task. I’m sure someone affordable with insurance will turn up. Its big business around here, I’ll keep calling around. Thanks...

    Tree Trimming ??

Ronnie, Now being retired, every penny counts and whose to say these satellites will have desirable “money’s worth” content in the future ? Gotta really ponder this. 🤔 John

    Tree Trimming ??

Hi all, Over the past winter, two trees in my yard have grown high enough to affect the signal I get from 101w, 103w and 105w. I've had several tree companies come out to give estimates which range from $300 to $500… just to do some trimming at the top. As much as I like this hobby, I'm...

    HyperMegaSat.com Online Store is Closing

Casey, Sorry to read your site is closing. Unfortunately this is the result of the slow downward spiral of this hobby along with the economy situation. I’m glad you will still be selling on Amazon and eBay as you are one of the very few satellite suppliers whose products I trust. Be well. John

The future of the FTA hobby

Hi all, Having been a BUD owner dince 1991, I’ve seen the gradual decline in services offered on satellite as technology advances. Unless something unforeseen happens in the future that enhances this hobby, I personally don’t see a BUD in my yard in the next 5 years. Equipment and parts are...

Any one not getting the Weigel channels?

Hi all, I don’t understand why these providers encrypt at all. We are such a small group of enthusiasts…getting smaller as time goes on. Is it really worth their effort and money to encrypt ? They’re not losing money letting us watch Biss free. I’m sure some of us even take advantage of the...

    No Horizontal Channels 101w

arlo, I’m working with an 8 foot solid I bought about 5 years ago. Works well…just finished removing some rust on back of dish, lnbf arm and pedestal. Still working to get 4180H 30,000. I get 4020H 30,000 at 11.2 dB. John

    No Horizontal Channels 101w

arlo, After scanning this satellite 3 times yesterday and getting no horizontal channels. I just scanned it and got all horizontal except for 4180H 30,000. Go figure…what changed from yesterday? I didn’t do any work at the dish since this happened. John

    No Horizontal Channels 101w

Hi arlo, No bees in the LNB… the blue cap cover prevents that. All was fine until 2 days ago. Strange how the horizontal channels come in fine on other satellites. Thanks for your response. John

    No Horizontal Channels 101w

Hi all, Has there been a disruption of service on 101w ? I’m unable to receive any horizontal channels, just the Daystar channel 4000V 4442. All other horizontal channels on other satellites come in just fine. Thanks in advance. John
