118 was essentially what Primestar was, a medium powered satellite that required a larger dish and different LNB than what DirecTV and Dish had when they launched with 18" antennas and high powered satellites at 101 and 119 that used the smaller and more modern LNBs. Dish was just cobbling...

    Echostar prepares potential bankruptcy filing

Makes sense to offer a hotspot, odd it's 4G when I would expect them to use their 5G spectrum.

No, this is what the TV 2 modulator setup screen looks like.

The OTA tuners in these weren't the most sensitive, so don't be surprised if it picks up a lot less channels than your TV's tuner. If you're far from the towers and using an indoor antenna, that's common.

Do you have an OTA antenna connected? You can just do a scan to add channels, that's to add a channel manually.

Unsuscribed Channels - NewsNation - not showing up in list

I think all this goes back to it's former roots as a superstation, WGN.

I have finally cancelled Dish after 26 years!

So is mine, I'm 12 miles from the mountain all the towers are on so it has no problem pulling everything in. I'm too far from Tucson (next closest market) to play with any DXing so in the attic it went!

Most installs there was never a good place to mount them, plus too much wiring it was tough to keep things looking neat. Most installs I zip tied them to the back of the dish. Then the customer would unplug the inserter and wonder why the system went down. Also couldn't work on the system with...

I have finally cancelled Dish after 26 years!

Everyone has a different use case and I agree Dish is the best value of all the traditional providers. I've stayed with them because I am able to avoid retrans fees (no other provider lets you pick locals a la carte) and avoid DVR and equipment fees (I have an owned Wally). Couple that with the...

I have finally cancelled Dish after 26 years!

Totally understand, I'm probably going to be cancelling Dish when my $30/mo credits expire in 3 months too, nothing wrong with the service just the sad lack of content on cable and OTA TV. YouTube and Pluto are really all I need.

Competition is a good thing. The 5G home services finally gave the consumer several viable options.

    Dish Change Question

Little demand and few retailers left, and Dish may not even allow retailers to sell equipment. In Dish's eyes there is no reason for consumers to purchase equipment other than their RV program.

When they were launching the new UI with the iTV apps, they made fun of that padlock in the guide on one of the Charlie Chats. Can't remember if it was Jim or Charlie that said the padlock now looks like a lock.

I remember installing quite a few 811s back in the day, I think it was a free upgrade on DHA with a monthly fee of like $9.99 for HD (iirc). I don't remember it being worth it especially for some of the cheap trash 32" LCDs flooding the market at the time.

    How things have changed

Regular YouTube has A TON OF CONTENT! It's mainly all we watch. I can get the local news on it, all the late night shows, plus all the other original content we like. YouTube Premium is easily 90% of what we watch, it's the only streaming service we pay for.

    How things have changed

I believe DirecTV Stream does this. I've been saying this for a while, I think there is a huge opportunity for a service to sell a rebranded Android box with a remote that has 0-9 direct entry for channels. This would really help with the crowd that is looking for the traditional TV viewing...
