Got some sad news to share. Claude Greiner died yesterday

This is where I need to ask, how old are you and how old was Claude?? I'm glad I've been here long enough to have interacted with Claude before he got banned. RIP!

How to tell if my system is using satellite or streaming from Internet?

If it doesn't show a Satellite, you're streaming

    Dish 60.0 Remote

The 40 remotes don't work with the Plus and 4-series Joeys

    Dish 60.0 Remote

Well, get ready, the 60 is the default remote shipping with new Hoppers and Joeys.

How to tell if my system is using satellite or streaming from Internet?

They removed the ability to disable it as it's now enabled by default

Dish Satellite now under 5 Million subscribers/Sling under 2 Million.

They're going to lose a crapton more now that Starlink is so available and affordable.

    Outdated Peripherals

I agree with Harshness that you may like Mint better or Peppermint, which is a lighter version that works well with older machines

I might look into that. You're right that HP blows through ink. I rarely print much and still have to replace cartridges 2-3 times a year

    Windows 10/11 Download

Most are not, but are finding out without warning that this has been implemented by HP with no way around it. I have an HP Printer, but haven't had this pop up yet

Wireless Joey loses connection to AP

Yes, any Joey can be used with ethernet either connected directly to the hopper or connected to a switch that's on the same network that the hopper is connected to. I assume there is a way to get the wireless Joey to disconnect from the excess point, I'm just not sure what it is. It could be...

Wireless Joey loses connection to AP

I understand how cable works and I understand how cabling for hopper system works since I do it every day. What I don't know is what a MOCA to ethernet bridge is. The access point can connect to the system two waves. One by connecting directly to the opera via ethernet or two is adding a...

How to tell if my system is using satellite or streaming from Internet?

Pressing info-recall is a way to see which Satellite you're using for the channel you're on. I wonder what it shows if you're streaming with Signal Protector

    Should I upgrade?

Those are different. You can create custom folders when you go into editing timers. I'm super OCD about organization, so everything I recorded had relevant folders that each show would record to, like Sports, Movies, etc
  18. HipKat

    Should I upgrade?

Yes, YOU have. This is a power user's forum. You're a power user. I see people's DVR's daily, with almost zero using folders.
  19. HipKat

    Should I upgrade?

The number of people who would want that feature is less than 1%, I'm sure, so why would Dish add something so complicated that almost no one would use?? I can tell you almost no one uses folders at all
  20. HipKat

    Should I upgrade?

That’s never gonna happen because it defeats the purpose of the whole home DVR and if you’re gonna stay with dish, then you might as well accept it because those VIP boxes are around their last breath

    Dish is dead to me.

Is it going to hurt you to put it in to see what happens?

Sorry if this sounds like im begging but

Yes, as far as we are in the field, replacing them on trouble calls, although it's very rare and only people who adamantly refuse to change to the Hopper, but as far as buying one as a customer?? Not sure
