How to tell if my system is using satellite or streaming from Internet?

My Hopper3 and 3 Joey2s are connected to my modem via WiFi. I do my streaming with smart tv apps and variety of devices (Roku,Cube and ONN).

Lately, I have noticed some peculiarity that I cannot explain.
I turn the tv on. Then, Joey 2. (The big tv uses Joey2.) At the top right corner, I see 'no satellite signal'. 2-3 seconds later, 'live tv' replaces that. It stays on couple seconds and is gone.
Shortly, a dish logo (those 3 red bars) appears in the middle briefly. Then, that's gone, too!

Under Settings, I see that Internet connection is strong to Hopper3 and 3 Joey2s.

Is it possible to see where the signal is coming from? Either a satellite or wifi connection?
I can disable the Internet connection to test it.
I hate to see wasting huge amount of data even though I have unlimited data with TMobile.

I don't see that box coming to screen and giving you an option for streaming when satellite connection is lost.

After rebooting Hopper under Settings (Is it the same as unplugging the cord for 10 seconds?) I haven't seen that 'no sat signal'.
When that happens I will disable the wifi connection. there are two floors between Hopper and my T-mo gateway. So, no Ethernet cable for me.

Pressing info-recall is a way to see which Satellite you're using for the channel you're on. I wonder what it shows if you're streaming with Signal Protector

Signal Protector

Hipkat, what does that mean?

After reboot I haven't seen 'no sat signal' again. For the record, when we turn the tv on, MSNBC comes on. I have ota. We hardly use those and their subs though.
I will remember using 'info' button in the future.

I tried it on a streaming channel and I couldn't tell with Info-Recall what the source is. Wouldn't options then TV Activity be a better indicator as it would show the tuners and what channel(s) it is using if it was using the satellite instead of streaming?

While the stream is downloading the first indication is that you see momentarily is the round red wifi symbol if your H3 is connected via wifi. Ethernet connection, I don't know but it still has to load enough data to build the video frames which takes a couple of seconds, whereas satellite is usually much quicker.
All in all It really does not matter.as long as you get your programming.

If it doesn't show a Satellite, you're streaming
