    the whole dtv cinema adapter thing is stupid anyway, since it is a modem just for pay per view (does not make sense to me--why can't they route my dvr through my modem?) But in any case, I got mine for free during my install last July.

    I have noticed that some cinema stuff does not look all that better in 1080p. DirecTV says all of their Cinema 1080p output is supposed to be like blu-ray but it ain't so.

    In any event, they told me up front that the free NFLST was contingent upon package selection etc, so I do not feel the least bit deceived. Just get me on that jury :)

    I had to pay $300 up front because of my bad credit. But they gave me the free NFL Sunday Ticket deal anyway! You never know until you ask them!

    Trees blocking HD satellite - what to do?

    Ironic, because trees blocking HD was one of the reasons that I switched from DirecTV to Dish. Dish also seems to handle the rare southern California rain fade a lot better as well.

    Actually I think that a Dish installer will only replace a DirecTV antenna when he is going to mount a Dish dish in it's place. My installer used my old DirectTV mast and gave me the antenna/LNB part to dispose of.

    Possibly the same reason that DirecTV is doing it. I believe SXM charges money for sat tv carriage. Plus they may want all of the Direct subscribers to invest in actual sat radios. I mean, in essence SXM is giving their product away free to at least 14 million people.

    Agree, but I am prejudiced, since I have an XM radio with a lifetime subscription on it. Obviously this would not affect me, but still, I would hate to see Dish do that.

    I think they have been calling all HD channels by the name HD Platinum. At least that is the service that appears on my bill for HD (I have the classic silver package)
