    Tipping The Installer?

I was gonna just give him $20 when he was done. I figured why should I bribe him to do his job. It didn't matter anyway, he came out and said he didn't have a 40ft. ladder as they don't use them on Sunday or Monday and setup an appointment tomorrow from 8-12pm. This has been more hassle than I...

    Tipping The Installer?

I think I'll offer that to him, just tell him he can have what I would have paid for the first month if he can get me installed. I'd take that deal if I did installations. Knowing my luck, he'll look at me like I'm an idiot and I still won't get things in working order. Well, here is to hoping...

    Tipping The Installer?

That is what I was thinking, extra money for him....finally getting D* hooked up for me. Everybodies happy. One way or the other, I gotta get something installed so I can get away from Charter Comm.. Biggest mistake ever leaving D* to go back to Charter. Directv is giving me a $100 credit for...

    Tipping The Installer?

Well, I am having an installer out tomorrow to try and install a 5-lnb slimline. This is the third guy in a month. I've already got the equipment now, all I need is the pro to set it up. I'm thinking of giving the guy a little tip if he can get me hooked up. Is that ok, or should I not even...

    Horrible Installation Experience

Well, I have the dish and receiver. I am awaiting the adapter, expecting that today (hopefully!!) and then I can get this show on the road. Once I have everything installed and am ready to activate, will Directv require a pro come out to look things over before activation or do I just have to...

    Suspicious install situation?

I'll second that, Premier is horrible.

    Horrible Installation Experience

Excuse my ignorance as I think I may have been mistaken. When I had Directv previously, I believe I just had a dual lnb 18" round dish. That dish was installed by a pro in Jan. 2006. The other info is correct, it is still mounted to the side of the brick house about 8-9ft. up. Will I still be...

    Horrible Installation Experience

Thanks for the help all, I really think I will try this one myself. I am fairly knowledgeable from reading up on all of this. I like to have a good idea of how things work especially pertaining to electronics and what not. I might give this a try. Any tips for a self installation, any tricks of...

    Horrible Installation Experience

Thanks for your help, is this something the installer will actually do. I wouldn't even mind doing this myself just to get the dish on the wall instead of on the roof. What would you recommend I do, try and let the installer work with your tips (which, if the installer is anything like the last...

    Horrible Installation Experience

It shouldn't be a problem with the extra room. I also should mention that the house is brick. Would that make any difference. I just want to make sure that if I were to purchase the mount that it would work properly and that the installer that comes out would know what it is and actually attempt...

    Horrible Installation Experience

My house has half the basement above ground as well as high ceilings (about 12ft.). I am also unaware about if the roof is truly flat having never been up there myself. If I had to guess I would say that it has a small grade from front to back. It can't be a big slope, the front is probably...

    Horrible Installation Experience

Thanks for all the help guys! I would prefer not to have the cinderblocks go up there but I realize that is probably the only option. I will give them a call and make sure they bring that out.

    Horrible Installation Experience

Well, I have cable service now so the cable is already run into the house. I have asked for two standard receivers and one high definition. Both installers that came out began telling me things that I would need (which they did not have) and they were very interested in rescheduling before...

    Horrible Installation Experience

I wouldn't mind a pole install. The second tech that came out told me that the only place I could get a signal would be on the roof. I did have Directv before and they placed the dish on the side of the house about 8 ft. up, if only they could install the HD dish in that same location.

    Horrible Installation Experience

Hello, I am new to the forums but I have been reading for awhile now. I would like to share my experience and maybe get some advice from you guys. I have been trying to get HD services from Directv now for a month. I live in St. Louis and our local installer is Premier Communications. So, two...
