It looks like the normal money issue to me. AT&T wants more. My DISH package for both Showtime and HBO is or was $15/month. HBO through Amazon Prime is $15/month by itself.

I can verify that transferring programs from an EHD dumped from a legacy receiver to the Hopper works without a problem. This was last Monday, but I did the transfer to the EHD prior to the old receiver being deactivated.

I have the same intermittent issue with a 622 but only on Sunday mornings. The unit was recently switched out for an unrelated issue and the new one does the same thing. I never had the problem until about six months ago, so I think it is a software issue.

I dream of the day when all the major networks provide national HD feeds as if they were "cable only" channels. Yes, a dream the local OTA stations will fight to the death.

You can get the national PBS feed (channel 249 in SD) if in a so-called "white zone." I prefer it over my two local PBS stations. The signal is better and the News Hour comes on at 4PM Pacific Time. I'd watch the locals if they ever came in HD though.

I’m getting an increasingly common and fairly loud, harmonic hum from my ViP 622. I’m assuming it’s coming from the power supply. A good tap on the case stops it. The unit is about 2½ years old so I’m wondering if the power supply is about go out.:confused:

From what I've read about it, I would switch to FIOS in a minute were it available. Like other comments, I expect I'll be taking the dirt nap before it is ever offered here though.

While I do watch local news and weather for a bit in the morning, I'd gladly give up all the locals for a national HD feed of the networks. I currently get the national PBS feed, albeit in SD, and much prefer it over the local PBS stations. Probably not politically possible though.

I've had the same issue at times. You can buy a dish heater to prevent this from ever happening again providing you remember to plug it in when it might be needed. It happens so seldom where I live though, that I haven't bothered.

I just finished trying to watch last Thursday's recording of "Lost" and it was bad during a few of the commercials also. Since I was jumping forward, I didn't really notice if it was only the HD ones.

The 30" dish helps but is sure no cure, at least at my latitude. I still get constant signal lost messages on every station on it. I cancelled STARZ HD because of this issue; trying to watch a movie in pieces while paying extra for the experience didn't cut it.
