I believe contracts are based off address not the name it's under. So I doubt using your wifes name would work. Having said that I went through something similar and you can get the new subscriber deal it just takes some work and CSR roulette. The cost to retain you for a new contract length...

If you're contract is up you can get that new subscriber deal. You just have to lean on them enough and get bumped up to a specialist. I've done it twice now. The cost to replace you is a lot more then giving that package and keeping you locked in for another 18/24 months.

Now that sucks. You used to be able to add them for $5 (and heck I'll take SD versions if I have to but don't want to miss my Cavs games). It's not a deal breaker though. Thanks Dave
