Why 'Willow Cricket' is expensive on Dish Network ?

Perhaps it costs Dish more than Directv at this point. Dish has only had the channel a short time; Directv has had it a lot longer.. how long ago was that contract made? And consider that if this is the case.... when that contract ends, Willow Cricket will probably want Dish money from Directv...

Dish may drop E! and Style

This is probably why an agreement was reached... Comcast doesn't want this kind of attention right now.

    Retention vs executive resolution

Loyalty/retention/account specialists (three titles, same position) is basically half a step above entry level. If an agent gets employed by a loyalty call center, once they've had a few weeks to get their feet wet they will be moved into loyalty, whether they want to or not. Executive...

A question from the technologically challenged...

Will also be able to control your dvr remotely to schedule recordings and delete items on the dvr. I've found it easier to set priorities from my computer than using the remote.

    Dish Cinema

Your DVR does have a priority setting. It's reasonable to expect that the ad would be set to like a 0 priority so that any other scheduled recordings would override it.

    hang up calles from dish

Probably an autodialer mis-estimating that there will be an agent available if you pick up the phone. Kinda like when an airline or hotel overbooks because they expect a certain percent of cancellations.

Billing Dept: Errors. Watch your bill.

Depends on what type of bill payer you are. I get a little email notice that my statement is ready and immediately go check it. People who are likely to put it off shouldn't mess with billpay.

    Cooking Channel Coming to DISH

Not necessarily... Fox Reality became NatGeo Wild in March.... yet Dish still continued to air the channel until April, and Direct is still airing it. I imagine preexisting contracts and such require that they continue airing the dead channel until the contract is completed or a new agreement is...

Billing Dept: Errors. Watch your bill.

Yes. They absolutely can. Just saying that some are going to want to keep the platinum, and will be disappointed to find that they're not actually going to save any money without giving up channels.

Billing Dept: Errors. Watch your bill.

The HD package were combined as part of a special promotion, available to existing customers only on request. Or if you changed your programming tier, it would've happened automatically. On June 3rd, the combined hd promotion will cease. Additionally, HD Theatre and Palladia will be moved to...

Poll what will be your response if equiptment fees go up a lot?

    So with Dish you'll be paying $6 + $14 + $7 = $27. With direct you'll be paying $6 + ($5 x 4 addt'l receivers) = $26. The $1 savings probably is not going to offset direct's overall higher programming costs.

Viewers may be asked to pay more for cable, satellite

The real question is the return you get on that marketing investment. I think the demand has so outrageously inflated the price that companies like pepsi realize they can get a better return spreading that money around.

UPDATED - New Dish Pricing Info!

You won't. In the case of the person you quoted, he will paying $27 in equipment fees for what I'm assuming is a five-tv setup. To go to direct, he would be paying four additional receiver fees x $5 plus the dvr fee for a total of $26. Nothing for direct to crow about, especially since...

UPDATED - New Dish Pricing Info!

A price increase this sizeable is a mistake, but only in terms of how it affects existing customers, and that will likely be a short term hiccup. Prices still compare favorably to direct even for multiple receivers, and if you just need one or two tvs, dish compares more favorably to direct in...

UPDATED - New Dish Pricing Info!

Actually, price increase time is when CSRs (including retention) have the least amount of freedom with adjustments. The company pretty much hammers in that they don't want the price increases undone, and so adjustments are "not allowed" if price increase is your reason for calling at this time...

UPDATED - New Dish Pricing Info!

The receiver fees are $7 per tuner (612 and 510/12 count as just one) plus $3 for dvr. So yeah, while the dvr fee is now being called an "account-level fee", it is technically $3 more for each dvr beyond the first. A little sneaky, but at least it's an improvement.

UPDATED - New Dish Pricing Info!

612 would actually be a $10 receiver, 222 would be a $14 receiver, and the first (most expensive) receiver on your account is free.
