    New meters?

Actually, no. Hauling a receiver and a TV to the roof and running power cords would be making a big production out of it. Hauling 1 extra LNB - not so much. Super easy to change LNBs.

    New meters?

Not important at all. With the old BD I use an old pre-SWM LNB to aim, then swap out for the right LNB when finished. Hardware aiming/dithering etc is the same.

    New meters?

T: The AI looks like a nice rig. But at $470 for the meter and another $610 for the module I'm no longer as impressed. O: I'm also coming off an old serial BD. Does the V8 provide a "found" indicator for the FTA and DBS birds?

    New meters?

Amazon reviews for the Satlink 6916 show it is not USA compatible - no USA birds listed, just Europe/England. Would assume there is an update available to download???

    New meters?

Thanks for the information. The Satlink is on my "list" that I'm winnowing through, but always great to get opinions from actual users. Assume it shows a "found" indicator on the FTA birds? Was surprised the new Birdogs did away with that. Shows "found" just for DBS birds now.

    New meters?

My trusty 15 year old Birdog meter has bitten the dust (not just battery), so I'm in the market for a new meter. Tried out the new Birdog ultra and was surprised it would not "lock" or provide a found indicator for the KU/KA FTA satellites (even after updating) - so that rules that one out...

Getting back in, need strong aim TP

Has been awhile since I was up at the dishes, pole was still dead on plumb and the old Birddog meter still nails satellite signals. Dialed in 103 on the 11940 V 20000 TP with 92 S and 78 Q and scanned the bird just fine with good S and Q numbers. Other dish will take longer to get back on...

Getting back in, need strong aim TP

Thanks for the updates. Looks like the first order of business is to update my satellite list - mine has nothing at 117. I do have the "old" skew for 103 at this long/lat so no need to pull out the slide rule. Will work on the motor dish Monday, but something I want to see on 103 tomorrow so...

Getting back in, need strong aim TP

After a LONG hiatus, I'm going to get my FTA rigs running again. Looked at the strong TP list, and I'm sure it is outdated and search didn't help much. Looking for a strong KA/KU aiming TP for 116.8 Sat Mex 5 (my true south for the USALS motor) and 103 (now called SES-3?) with the weird skew...

    CHEAP TABLETS FOR TRAVEL???

You guys have any opinions on a lightly used LG Nitro HD P930 with a 16GB micro SanDisk? Looks like it was AT&T - but remember I want it just for the Wi-Fi mail/browser while traveling. Will not be using the phone side at all. Looks like I might be able to score 2 for $50 each. I have them...

    CHEAP TABLETS FOR TRAVEL???

Except I have no intentions of ever letting the traveling unit ever interface with my home network. Just with yahoo for news and to my "toss away" travel email account while we are traveling. Considering it will have been in Jamaica, Puerto Rico, Dominican Republic, Haiti, etc., the odds of...

    CHEAP TABLETS FOR TRAVEL???

I need to find a light bulb icon to paste in here (or one of me smacking my forehead). You are 1,000% correct - a used smartphone would be rugged enough and the "phone" section doesn't need to be activated in order to use it as a WI-FI device for browsing and Gmail! Perfect solution!!!!

Interesting idea. How would that work outside of the USA?

    CHEAP TABLETS FOR TRAVEL???

The Nook and the Fire sure don't have the battery life I've become accustomed to! Neither one of them has the "legs" to be used as a reader on an international trip. Looks like if I go that way, neither will replace my trusty old Kindle that goes for weeks without recharging. Are there other...

    CHEAP TABLETS FOR TRAVEL???

Couldn't use it with my provider. I have an OLD grandfathered international cell plan that has no roaming or international charges for either the USA, Canada or Mexico. Since retiring, we spend most of our time at the beach house in Mexico, so the plan has become worth it's weight in platinum...

    CHEAP TABLETS FOR TRAVEL???

Guilty! Guilty of starting a thread - then getting called away for over a week and not checking back :o. By "cheap" I was thinking +/- $100. All I need is light Wi-Fi headline browsing for say 1 hour every few days & Gmail access - all just a few weeks a year when we travel. I'm tired of...

    CHEAP TABLETS FOR TRAVEL???

Are the cheap tablets you see advertised "generally" worth it for light duty while traveling? By light duty I mean Wi-Fi connection with a little bit of general browsing and Gmail access - every few days. We cruise, and it's a pain to drag the laptop. Are there features that are must haves as...

Question about mounting a mast for a motorized dish

I had the same weight "sag" issue. Scrounged around for an old Direcway tripod mount (they are wicked heavy) - cut a long straight section of regular "J" pole to fit inside of it (so that the diameter was then compatible) then drilled & straight bolted it through both section pieces N/S, then...

KUDOS TO BRIAN & SAV Team

Has anyone EVER experienced a new box intro that compares with the MHD? Some small issues - but let's face it - this tiny box delivered what Brian promised - time for a STANDING "O". Support has been stellar. Like = applause. Mike
