    What Happened to Everybody?

I've not hooked up my FTA stuff in probably 5-7 years. I've still got a 6 foot dish on a mount, and a 39" KU dish. I remember it was really fun then fiber came along. My old actuator died years ago, and I gave the 8 foot dish away. Maybe this summer if I get bored I'll hook up something for old...

Which new receiver with specific features?

Olds, Not sure how to get a PM to you. I have a Micro still in original box if you want it? I think I got it for my brother when I bought mine and he only used it a few times. I have no use for it. Shoot me a name and address and consider it your early Christmas present lol

WRAL-TV Showcases Next Gen TV’s Potential

I agree. I too am standing by the sidelines watching all this unfold. The DTV transition wasn't all that smooth. People that once had a decent analog signal couldn't get their station in digital. I remember people buying UHF antennas and of course the station they wanted was VHF. Stations...

What Do You Think The Future Of FTA Will Be?

Haven't had my setup on in probably 3 years but I know back in the day I spent plenty lol. Got a 6 foot fixed and a 8 foot I got from Sadoun when they were in Columbus Ohio. The parts kept getting harder to find...decent ones anyway. Nobody seemed to keep much in stock. Still have a Micro Hd...

What should be done with Ion?

Haven't seen Ion in years except on a B.U.D. Except for the weekends their programming is not all that. I rate it up there with Oprah's channel and lots of others with almost nothing worth watching

Philo Tv debuts 37 channel streaming package for $16 a month

No program guide to speak of yet on the Roku. After the trial we promptly dropped it. Wife wanted Hallmark Channel too. I emailed Philo and told them of the above issues and said we might try again down the road

Is Sling TV in most general cases stable?

Had Sling since they started a couple of years ago. Works fine on our Roku 3 with 20/2 mbps internet

BREAKING NEWS: FCC Approves Next-Gen TV for OTA Broadcasting

I'm not even excited about 4K since there's not much content yet, to cause me to buy yet another new Tv. So I'm certainly not getting excited about 3.0 and a transition to that. I think it will pay to wait a while to get a new Tv, unless someone really needs one. Buy a 4k now and then in a few...

Over-the-air very underdeveloped in the US?

Neither of my grown kids ages 32 and 37 have cable Tv. Most of my 7 grandkids have grown up with PBS OTA or like their parents watch streamed stuff. We have Sling at our house and 70 channels OTA

Over-the-air very underdeveloped in the US?

Cable and satellite started big in the U.S in the 80's and most took their bait. Back then it was reasonable $35 a month or so and lots to watch. The cable companies locked everyone in and started jacking up the prices so we have the mess we have today. There's no incentive to offer anything...

Lots of SlingTV News including its First PPV Event!

Well looks like I'm grandfathered in on yet another package. I hope I never need to make a change or this will cost me more $$. Did we really need another $ 5.00 package though.

    New to hobby have questions

Jholt I have a Fortec 6 footer sitting here in the yard not hooked up. Might need some spray to spruce it up. It's similar to the big one in my av. It's a fixed dish but could be motorized at some point. I'm east of Cincinnati. If you're interested in making the trip south let me know its yours

Free Over-the-Air TV Is Going to Get Better

With yet another converter box perhaps lol....Or you can just buy another Tv to replace the 4K you haven't bought yet

I call for a satellite merger

I see the pizza dish going the way of the big dish....might take 15-20 years but it will happen....Key is decent affordable internet without useless caps. Broadband of some kind has to hit the rural areas too

    Glorystar vs SatelliteAV dealer

Bob, I agree so much of the stuff is now on my Roku I hardly ever mess with my FTA anymore. Guess like myself everyone like the plug in play no fuss method today. Almost anyone can hook up a Roku themselves.

    True South C Band Satellite

Conway, measurements are great but don't always produce real world results lol. I figured out in 2008 when I set my 8 footer up to adjust focal point until I got a signal on a strong transponder. I then went for something weaker and tweaked that one. I can adjust the elevation nut on mine 1/2 a...

    The "new" FCC and OTA

Some years ago I kind of thought OTA was on the downside. With the digital transition and maybe with 3.0 it will have a booming comeback. It still worries me that more of the spectrum has been gobbled up and sold.

Now I know without a doubt why spell check was invented.

    Cord cutting time

Dee, I know what you mean it sucks getting older lol. I've got my dishes still setup but haven't messed with them in probably two years until the other day. The motor on my KU dish has died again. That's probably the 5th SG2100 motor. The Cband dish, the 8 footer, was still pretty much lined up...

I've heard good and bad about Spectrum. So far my speed went from 15Mbps to 23 MBPS and still at $59

    Cord cutting time

Dee, I remember when you first starting setting up all your dishes for FTA. You think that was a fun learning curve lol, all this streaming stuff and how to get it, is loads of work and fun too! We've had Sling for two years and it works for us. We don't watch a lot of Tv. We tried Vue on the...

Sling TV expands access to its Cloud DVR

I was in on the Sling DVR beta on our Roku 3. Looks like we are grandfathered in unless we stop their service. So far we keep the 100 hours and its free. I can't see paying $ 5.00 for only 50 hours
  24. Blindowl1234

    Cord cutting time

I would try a trial of Sling and PS Vue and go from there. We've had Vue since it started and no real issues on a Roku 3. The Dvr on Sling is 50 hours and is $5 more. It's not available on Roku yet. I was in the beta and it worked well for us. The guide etc...for PS Vue on the Roku was terrible...

Sling / DTV Now / Vue

Using Sling since it started and its gotten better. No issues with buffering etc on the Roku 3 with 20/2 mbps internet. I'm in on the Dvr beta and it seems to work good. We've not recorded a lot of stuff only a few shows but it worked ok.
