Should I pay for Pole mount?

Most HSP Techs will also tell you that they can't run the lines under a sidewalk. Most (if not all) HSP Field Supervisors will tell you that you need to have the conduit put under the sidewalk by someone else, and they will come back and do the rest of the work. If you found a guy that is going...

Pros & Cons of being a dealer

I provide a "personal touch" to my customers, I'm not just a voice on a phone. My customers are always satisfied with their installations because it's always installed exactly the way they want it done (when it's possible). Sure, there may be additional charges to the customers for a custom...

Temporarily stop service based on income

You're both right. They will suspend it for $5 a month for up to 6 months. However, if you are still under contract, the time your account is suspended will NOT count towards your contractual obligation. Just keep that in mind.

    Install Question (Altoona/Johnstown DMA)

I know that, the point was you will only need one dish pointed at around 227* SW.

    Install Question (Altoona/Johnstown DMA)

No, you should only need the 1 Ka/Ku dish. My mother in law lives in Lewistown and they only have a 18" single LNB dish. Your dish will point roughly 227* SW.

FIOS and DirecTV on the same coax? Need help stacking and splitting.

With a basic cable feed and a standard (non HD) Directv receiver you can diplex the signal with no problem. Try diplexing a HD signal and your begging for "searching for satellite signal" messages. Like JD said, run new lines.

Help!Sat Box will not respond to any remotes?

You cant. If they find out you opened the receivers, you will be paying for both of them. Full retail too, not the lease price of $199. I suggest you burn anything that you want to keep before they change it out. Also, for all you know, the software on the HDD may be bad and switching them out...

Help!Sat Box will not respond to any remotes?

Call Directv and make them give you a new receiver.

Possible to install DirecTV dish on Dishnetwork pole?

Yup, I have them from before they started packing them with the dish (which was a good idea IMO). Anyway, they are out there and shouldn't be too hard for you to find if you need them.

Possible to install DirecTV dish on Dishnetwork pole?

They make different size clamps for the mono poles, they are for the international dishes. They will work fine on a standard sized mount. I have a bunch of them and have used them on standard mounts successfully.:up

How to assign a 2nd remote to a reciever? Not having any luck.

That's only if the receiver is in IR mode. If its in RF mode, follow Edmunds instructions.

Help!Sat Box will not respond to any remotes?

Which model harmony remote do you have? I think only the 890/895, 1000 & 1100 are RF models. So unless you have one of those remotes, forget about RF. It sounds like the HR22 didn't like the software update it got. dslate69, you're right. The receiver will operate in RF or IR, not both at the...

Help!Sat Box will not respond to any remotes?

If the Harmony remote worked, its not in RF mode since the Harmony isn't a RF remote. Yes, the reset button is basically the same as pulling the plug. No, you will not have to call DTV to re-activate the receiver. No, it will not erase your data. No, you can't get your saved shows off of your...

Need advice on wall mounting a new slimline HD dish

Stucco is kinda iffy. I usually avoid it because once you drill into it, water gets behind the layer of stucco and when it freezes, the stucco separates from the wood or whatever is holding it and begins to fall apart. As far as a special mount to mount it to the wall goes, you dont need one...

    16 output mutiswitch

yeah, that's REAL lucky considering the price tag that comes along with a 16way multi switch. What kind of crappy Tech doesn't have at least a pocket toner to figure out which wire is which? They are like $15!! Probably the same guy that calls his cell phone from the customers home phone (which...

    Installing SWM5 LNB

Make sure NOT to use the BBC. Plug the RG6 coming from the power inserter right into the back of the receiver. as long as you have the dish properly sighted in, it should work flawlessly. The power inserters are all the same, its only the splitters that are different.

First time Sat. customer, confused, need equipment/install advice before ordering.

Directv will let you suspend your service. They will charge you something like $5 a month while it's suspended. I don't know if dish will do the same. Keep in mind, if you suspend your account for three months it will add three months to your contract, if you suspend it for two months, it will...

Saw this on Help Me Howard on WPIX

It's not just Directv that has this policy. Dish, cable providers, cell phone companies, phone companies, etc.. It's a pretty standad practice. Is it right? Thats another story.

Ganging multiple dishes for a single bird.

If the 1.2m dish has a good LOS for the 101, why not just get an 18" dish and swap it out for the 1.2m and be done with it? There are pole adapters available if the current poles diameter is too big for a standard 18" dish. Maybe I'm missing something, but that would be the easiest way to do it...

    Buying receivers from other people?

If the person selling the receiver has already been charged for it from Directv, you CAN sell/buy it. Its that simple. The $199 price tag that comes with a new HD-DVR is the LEASE price, no matter where you buy it. To buy it from Directv it would cost substantially more. I would be willing to...

First time Sat. customer, confused, need equipment/install advice before ordering.

The additional 12months of free showtime is a "closing deal". Not all retailers/dealers have access to it, it just depends who you call.
