    Quetzsat 1 Successfully Launched!

Many people was hoping that this satellite would bring more channels and packaging options in Dish Mexico, but it seems that they've found a cash cow and don't have the need to offer something better. 16 HD channels for 180 pesos  what do you think?

    The birds on 77W

I was wondering, is the e4 still in use? well, now is almost 1 year since e1 arrived to 77w, for nothing? I'm asking because lately some channels freeze, not very often but more than you would like, signal strength is good, between 58 and 65, so the only reason i can think of why is it happening...

    Dish Mexico: a success history

It's been said that Azteca 7, 13 and 40 will be included in early 2010, the channels are already uplinked. Televisa ask for US$1.96 plus taxes per suscriber for a package of 14 channels (most of them are Bullsh!t, my opinion) including their OTA, too expensive to keep the low cost phylosophy...

    Dish Mexico: a success history

Hey guys, I just wanted to share this with you A year ago (November 24th, 2008) Dish Mexico, a joint venture between Echostar and MVS was launched and now has over one million suscribers, a growth without precedents in mexican paid tv industry. Sky, its DTH competitor has 1.8 million suscribers...

Hey guys, fill the blanks! (channels per transponder)

Thanks I though that MPEG2 encoding was used for SD only, "You lear something new every day" :D But it's technically possible, isn't it? here's one of the reasons why I'm asking, Dish Mexico (the Echostar-MVS joint venture, not the package) is using 311 and 322 receivers wich as far as i...

Hey guys, fill the blanks! (channels per transponder)

One transponder is able to carry ____ channels with: QPSK-MPEG2 QPSK-MPEG4-SD QPSK-MPEG4-HD 8PSK-MPEG2 8PSK-MPEG4-SD 8PSK-MPEG4-HD theorically, even if some of these combinations were never used. thanks :D

    HD, 8PSK?

Oh wait, then I misunderstood this part: Does it mean that satellites are designed for a specific orbital location? then birds at 77w can't use 8PSK because both were moved from another one and they aren't oriented properly?
  25. S

    HD, 8PSK?

Let me put it in my words to see if I got it. In this kind of modulation, error-rate is too high that you need a strong signal wich old satellites are not designed to deal with, you could use 8PSK but the signal would be so weak that you would have to use a big dish, right? I'm assuming that's...
