Not sure what direction to go

Thanks everyone. I am not sure what I am going to do but I am going to try and get the Hopper replaced. I have been with Dish for a long time and have been mostly happy with things up until this point. Hopefully they will go ahad and replace it for me. I guess if they won't replace it, that will...

Not sure what direction to go

What would you do? I have been with Dish probably close to 10 years. I have had many different receivers over the years including a 722, a 200 series, and the Hopper/Joey. I have been fairly happy with Dish up to this point. Back in October, my Hopper died. One DIRT rep kept denying it was bad...

    Hopper daily reboot annoyance

Another software update, (S400) and still the 1:30 AM forced reboot. I know some of you think I am whining, but there is no reason for this to reboot at this time, with activity on the receiver, and especially if you are watching recorded media off the DVR. It is beyond annoying.

    Hopper daily reboot annoyance

This stupid Hopper annoys me more and more every single night. It is getting so annoying I am thinking of dumping Dish after all these years. I just want to come home and watch TV and the Hopper is making it nearly impossible to relax and enjoy TV. It reboots in the middle of a DVR playback...

    Hopper daily reboot annoyance

My annoyance is not that it DOES reboot, it is WHEN it reboots. I am quite aware they (for various reasons) reboot every day. My 722 and my previous dish receiver (211K?) before that rebooted every day and I never noticed it for the 10 plus years I have had Dish because I set the time to when I...

    Hopper daily reboot annoyance

Why does my Hopper insist on rebooting every day at 1:39 AM? I usually get the first "check for update" prompt at about midnight, (I select no at that time) and at 1:39 it simply reboots no matter what without a prompt. Very annoying when you are watching TV to have it reboot in the middle...

    ZOOM IN MORE PLEASE!!!

The Hopper displays 7 "lines" (channels), if I am counting correctly. Didn't the VIP have 6 lines as one of the settings? The font seemed bigger on the 722. It would be nice to have a choice of how many lines like the VIP series had. I do agree that in certain cases the Hopper is tougher to...

722 Died, replace it or upgrade to Hopper?

Got the Hopper and Joey, it works great. I am very glad I upgraded from the 722. Thanks for the help KAB.

What is the best equipment configuration for Hopper upgrade from Vip722 multi-room setup?

I just had a similar issue with my recent Hopper upgrade, and here is what I ended up doing. Hopper in living room, TV on HDMI output. Joey in basement outputting to HDMI splitter/switch (monoprice 8155). Splitter HDMI outputs go to bedroom and basement TV. This works great, it is a huge...

722 Died, replace it or upgrade to Hopper?

Thanks for everything. Now I just need a Dirt Team Member to get me taken care of.

722 Died, replace it or upgrade to Hopper?

I am probably making this harder than what it is, (sorry long week) but just to totally clarify this in my mind: The HDMI and the composite RCA on the Joey output the same signal/channel so I would need TWO modulators to get what I want. One modulator would hook to Hopper, feed the kitchen TV...

722 Died, replace it or upgrade to Hopper?

It just looks like it takes 2-3 times as much wiring/cabling to get the same results as the 722. If I can use ethernet, that makes it easier. I just looked and modulators are pretty reasonable on Amazon and elsewhere so I guess that is easy for me to handle.

722 Died, replace it or upgrade to Hopper?

OH, and one more thing that might be the deal breaker. With the 722 a person on the modulator setup can choose to watch either available channel or the DVR. It doesn't sound like I could do this with 1 Hopper. In other words here is my proposed setup. Living room (fed from Hopper HDMI port)...

722 Died, replace it or upgrade to Hopper?

OK. If I did 1 Hopper, 1 Joey, I would still use an external RF modulator? I.E. Joey doesn't have an OUTPUT that I could use to feed my other TV's. Does Dish supply the modulator if needed? How does a Joey "talk to" a Hopper? It looks like over a coax cable. If so, I would need a 2nd coax...

722 Died, replace it or upgrade to Hopper?

Sorry this is so long. My 722 hard drive took a massive dump and took the 722 with it. Now I have to make a decision, replace the 722, or upgrade to a Hopper setup. Let me briefly describe my setup, and my thoughts about the 722 and I would like to hear input from some of you. My 722 is a lease...

    L725 on 722

Seems I am talking to myself here, but the fan running at full speed seems to happen only on certain channels. Channel 205 (HD), Fox News, is one of them. I don't think it is all HD channels that cause this, other channels like 182, Discovery (HD) the fan operates like it used to I.E. low/silent.

    L725 on 722

One other thing: The fan seems to run full-tilt much of the time. The receiver is out in the open, and the fan did not run like that before this firmware. There is no reason it should be in jet engine mode so much. It is quite distracting when I am trying to quietly watch TV at night, and this...

    L725 on 722

I seem to have received L725 on my 722 (not-K) recently. I am not sure when it happened, I have been gone on vacation for a couple weeks, and for some reason I happened to check what software I was on. One thing I noticed is when there is a signal loss, I get a new message about "switching to...

    Slow Guide on 722K

Yea, it goes something like: HMMM what is on Discovery channel. [guide] 1-8-2 [enter]. Instead I get channel 100 or channel 6, depending upon what keystrokes the remote decides to ignore. :censored: :mad::mad: Throw the remote, scare the dog, tick off the other half. Calm down and take...

    Slow Guide on 722K

I am glad I am not the only one with this slow remote control issue. This has been ongoing for at least the last 2-3 software updates, about 6 months or so. I can push a button, and literally 10-15 seconds later the receiver responds. It is especially slow if you do not use the remote for few...
