I'm getting the standard defintion preview, but not the HD version. I've always gotten the HD version the previous times they've had a preview.

Yeah, if they fix the component output, I'll be able to switch between satellite and DVD without having to adjust all the picture settings.

The brightness problem that this update causes with component cables sucks. I hope Dish releases a fix ASAP. It is very annoying to have to change the settings when switching between satellite and DVD.

My understanding is that if you currently receive either 129 or 61.5, you're good to go. I currently have two Dish 500's, one going at 110/119 and the other at 61.5, so I don't think that I have to change anything.

I really hope that someone will find a way to prove that they can't label it as HD if it's not 1920x1080i or 1280x720p. Furthermore, my plasma's native res is 1366x768, and I can easily see the difference between HD and HD-Lite.

HD-Lite is not 720p, it's 1280x1080i, which is inferior to 720p.

dlsnyder, I don't mean to be insulting or anything, but either your HDTV is not very good or your wife needs to get her eyes checked. On my tv, the difference between HD and non-HD is enormous. SD is so bad it's on the border of being unwatchable.

Since 1280x1080 isn't an official HD standard, shouldn't it be illegal for them to advertise it as HD? The Voom channels (even those that were 1920x1080) already paled in quality in comparison to HDNet, but now the quality is dirt poor. Dish better not raise the $5 price once all 21 channels...

ESPN2HD will also help cover some of the HD World Cup action next year. I seriously hope that 129 is not the only location it'll be on, though. I'd hate to have to pay more to get more equipment to view 129.

I think that the majority of subscribers would prefer Universal HD over ESPNHD2, plus if they dont currently have the capacity, I don't want them to add it at the expense of more compression. The current amount of compression is too much already.

It must be something on your side, crazycat, because my HD picture is superior to what I've seen at retailers. My SD also looks better than it did on cable.
