We Really Had It Great With Voom!!

Yup, Comca$t just sent their latest rate increase letter. Now they are charging for the digital boxes which were previously free with the Gold package. Makes me miss Voom more and more. Will not go back to E* and they would tell me to f** off since I was a previous sub. STill have great OTA...

We Really Had It Great With Voom!!

Yup, have to agree. While I do like my DVR and VOD, I still would go back to Voom in a heartbeat. I think they came to market a bit too soon. 1-2 years ago, HD was still an oddity for many. Now, even for the big box stores, X-Box, etc., it is all you hear about. Too bad there is no content...

Survey: Cable, satellite TV firms last in customer satisfaction

E* and D* should take this to heart. They can no longer sell themselves as "the good guys" alternative to cable when public perception is that they have become just as bad for service (maybe worse) and equally expensive.

Can you just do Voom/HD pack on E*

Hi All, If one were to buy an E* HD tuner on Ebay, can you sign up ONLY for the Voom and HD pack on E*? How about if you are on E*'s black list (i.e. a former subscriber)? I keep seeing different stories, often based on feedback from different csr's? I would consider buying an E* box if I...

    For what it's worth...

I do not know about COX but the Comcast honeymoon is 16 months, which in this game is a lifetime. Certainly longer than the 3 month honeymoon offered by E*. I will save a lot of money during this period, will have the chance to see how things shake out, will enjoy the DVR's and VOD, and will...

    sending back equipment

Seems to be the general consensus. If they want the oxes back then they should also offer customers the option of having the dish and/or antenna removed and holes properly patched. That is the catch-22 that they are in. I guess it will ultimately come down to the value of the boxes versus the...

    For what it's worth...

I have to agree. While I thought Voom was great, satellite has become an expensive hassle which I no longer want to deal with. I enjoyed some of the Voom originals but given the choice of HD locals or GalleryHD I will take the HD locals. Of even greater value to me is having video on demand...

    One Unhappy Camper

It is incredible how poor E* customer service really is. Utterly amazing, these guys make the cable companies look like Nordstrom's.

    sending back equipment

Yes. likewise E* did not come out and remove the dish when I dropped them. I think that the key difference here is that the customers in question have not dropped Voom, Voom essentially dropped them. That might potentially create additional obligations on Voom's part?

    sending back equipment

I certainly hope that Voom does not try to play it both ways. If they decide to abandon the equipment then that should abandon all of it. If they do want the STB's returned then they are entitled to them. HOWEVER, they should then also be obligated to remove the dish AND the OTA antenna...

    Voom On Comcast?

Some, albeit a few, of Comcast's systems have gone all digital. This needs to happen systemwide in order to free up bandwidth currently wasted by analog. Until then, they are probably limited in what they can carry. At the same time, as previous poster noted, you should take the time to...

Dish / VOOM deal ( NO DEAL )

Yes, shows you how the tides of customer service have turned when you see the cable companies are the ones doing it right. Cable is aggressively pursuing former customers with dish win-back offers that are excellent. E* treats former subs like a cheating ex. I can see requiring a commitment...

Everyone send a e-mail to DIRECTV (VOOM)

Essentially the same canned message Comcast sent me.

    sending back equipment

When I returned my E* equipment they wanted the boxes and the LNB. I told them I could not access the LNB where the dish was mounted. They then waived the return of the LNB. If they want anything, it will just be the boxes.

DISH to carry all 21 in 2006

It is a shame that Voom did not wait until this deal was completed before they announced the shutdown. Given this info I would have gone back to E* as I am sure many others would have. I have now had Comcast for the past 2 weeks and the family loves the DVR and VOD features. True, there is...

    Canceling Dish Network

They will want the STBs, remotes, and LNB. If you tell them that your LNB is way up high and you can not get to it they will waive the requirement to return that item. Of course, if you purchased the equipment it is yours.

Was going to order comcast for hd untill this....

I can understand your frustration, that is a pretty long wait. Maybe they are now using Voom's Installs Inc. When I called Comcast is was more like, "We can come out tomorrow" That was not good for me so they offered Saturday or Sunday!! They showed up within a 2 hour scheduled...

    E* Troll Sales People

Have had two message on my answering machine. Talk about E* resellers twisting the truth to their own advantage. These came from Bill Thompson at the "Voom Conversion Center". The message is that Voom's assets have been sold to E*. They are calling to schedule my satellite TV "upgrade" in...

    If you're ordering E*...

I am not sure about this but I think DISH may use a different LNB type. So, DISH should be OK but you may need to swap out the LNB. Maybe someone who has tried it can verify.

Those folks who signed up with E* will not be happy to hear this!

Voom Message Board Traffic Fading Fast

The other problem is an antiquated system of protecting the local broadcasters. Voom, and every provider, should be allowed to carry East and West coast network feeds of their choice. The system we have today is akin to telling people that they can not purchase USA Today if they live in an...

Voom Message Board Traffic Fading Fast

Looks like even the hard core Voomers have mostly moved on. Activity on the voom forums has slowed to a trickle. As mentioned earlier, I have gone with Comcast and am generally pleased. I will keep the one Voom box live until the end just for the sake of nostalgia. In any event, it has...

POLL: After VOOM, who will be your provider?

Be careful. They will offer you DHA free for 12 months. If you take them up on that you are then locked in for the full 12 months and will have to pay an early termination fee if you switch. Otherwise it is about $5 per month for DHA which, if you are leasing the equipment, never made much...

POLL: After VOOM, who will be your provider?

In my area cable wins on all counts including: - Most HD offerings - Lowest Price - No commitment - DVR rental for $9.99 a month - No absurd "guide fees" or "DVR fees" on top of rental. - No additional charge for 2 additional HD boxes. In my situation it was a no-brainer. I would...

Yes, There is Life After Voom

I have to confess that the more I play around with the Comcast DVR and VOD features, the less I am missing Voom. I never saw season 4 of the Sopranos. Thanks to VOD, I am catching up on it now. My wife was watching a kids show the other day and decided it would be a good one to record even...
