Moving Directv Dish to a tall pole

I think the stump is gonna move itself in a few years, it's starting to disintegrate.......got some shrooms on it this year for the first time! I really want to put something more permanent in. Kinda like putting Vinyl on the house - it's done!

Moving Directv Dish to a tall pole

Picture is kinda misleading, they aren't really hanging over the dish - or they would have been the first and easiest to remove! I think that I will be trimming a lot this summer, so there is no question that anything I can reach will go. Haven't lost the signal since I got it back on Sunday...

Moving Directv Dish to a tall pole

If you are looking at the dish from the front, to the left(and a higher elevation) is dense forest and to the right(and a lower elevation) are wetlands. I am pretty much stuck where I am . At the time I had it installed, I thought ANYTHING was better than having to get cable. I am trying to...

Moving Directv Dish to a tall pole

I would climb up there to change it out if needed, it would be a lot sturdier than the wiggly extension ladder I climbed up this morning to cut a big branch down. must have been 18-20' off the ground, and it was scary, but it's done. I took a few more pictures looking at the dish from about...

Moving Directv Dish to a tall pole

Thank you, everyone, I appreciate all your thoughts. I am afraid I am stuck in the spot that the dish is in now, and at least I have my signal back now, and have bought some time to think about this!

Moving Directv Dish to a tall pole

Thanks so much for taking the time to write, CVarner. I appreciate your thoughts and it sounds like a great idea! The Stump is in the woods, so no lawn to mow back there, thank goodness. I like the tower idea, very ingenious, I am glad I asked, and even more glad you responded! Thanks again!

Moving Directv Dish to a tall pole

Satellite Dish pictures by juliegnh - Photobucket I got the service back after lopping off a big branch that I could barely reach with the ladder extended all the way. Maybe only a few feet higher would be ok, for the dish. I attached a picture of the view from behind the dish. Please weigh...

Moving Directv Dish to a tall pole

I assume I would use the same extension ladder that I have used to lop off the branches from the sides of the trees that are about 20 feet in front of the dish, hoping that would cure the problem. I am not saying that the solution I came up with is the best, that's why I am asking for advice on...

Moving Directv Dish to a tall pole

I guess that was what I was asking, what the logistics are, how high can I go, do I have to use guy wires if I get up say 15-20'? How can something like this be accomplished? I am looking for a way to elevate the dish so I can get up above the tree growth(not my trees) from the last 13 years....

Moving Directv Dish to a tall pole

Sure, ok, but where the dish is currently mounted on a big 'ole stump that is about 4 feet off the ground, I figure if I am getting interference now, then the only way to correct it is to go higher, and while I have to put all the time and effort into it, I might as well go up pretty high, so I...

Moving Directv Dish to a tall pole

Thanks for responding, Jimbo! No, the dish is no where near the house, it is down in the back yard about 30-40 ft away. It was the only way to clear those trees. I figure the only choice I will have is a long pole, and am trying to do the research now, so I do it correctly.

Moving Directv Dish to a tall pole

Hello- I have had Directv for about 13 years and have my dish mounted in the back yard on a huge tree stump so that it would clear some trees(not on my property). Well, after 13 years, I think those trees have gotten a little taller and I am having some intermittent reception issues(mostly...
