    Can lock Echostar 7 only

Thanks for info but as I said earlier I can't go that far east without cutting a forest.

    Can lock Echostar 7 only

I guess I was misunderstood when referring to “AM5” and I should have said “Intelsat AM5 97W”, that’s the identification I receive. I still believe my dish is reasonable well aligned (may be not perfect). I noticed some sats do not show an identification on my receiver? Granted, you guys know...

    Can lock Echostar 7 only

Okay, I managed to find a few more sats: Galaxy 3, 4 and 12, AMC1, Echostar 7 & 8, and AM5. What was unexpected for me, a Newbie, that Echostar(s) gave me Q=100 whereas these other sats are barely noticeable. Only a blind scan into what looked like nothing revealed ultimately something but not...

    Can lock Echostar 7 only

I can get Echostar 7 with USALS "go to sat position" from any other position and I stepped through the accessible (no obstacle) horizon but find no other Q signal.

    Can lock Echostar 7 only

Using SV 8000 HD, SG2100 motor and 30" dish I am unable to lock on any satellite but Echostar 7 at 119 W. I am at longitude 84 W and latitude 34 N. I need help badly since I am almost bald from pulling my hair.

    Viewsat 9000HD or Sonicview 8000HD

Let me describe what I look for: HD support with two tuners because I want ATSC signals to go over this box via HDMI to HD TV (i.e. SV 8000HD); blind scan to help me find, I can't receive C-band at present but may be able in the future, PVR support or build in, ethernet connection for update and...

    Viewsat 9000HD or Sonicview 8000HD

I looked intensively at the AZBox products but there seems to be very limited offerings in USA and I don't want to do business were there is no to little competition. Besides I read these boxes run pretty hot which is most likely a problem on durability.

Sonicview I believe SV is about to go under (our of business in US) their website shows about half the listed dealers are obsolete, several remaining ones don't carry SV any more and their email addresses are either obsolete or not answered. While I would consider another 8000 HD I am very...

Relax and come down! I am listening and soaking it up like a sponge but I want multiple opinions. I haven't decided what next but I want to be reasonable sure my next decision is a good one. Looking around at the web everyone claims his is the best box and it's difficult to find the truth.

Mike11, I believe you misunderstood me. I meant to say, I am not looking for a box where I want to hack. I am looking for the best (one of the best if price is very high) HD receiver currently on the market.

Please see my thread "Zero Quality" for details. I am done with that dealer and I am seeking actual suggestions what to buy handling HD. I am not interested in changing software (hacking).

GoSatellite.com Thank you for your reply. I realize that you told me earlier how to install the factory software but I am so furious about the jerks at GoSatellite.com that they sent me apparently a used box. I spent several days trying to solve reception problems, thus I disputed the...

    Viewsat 9000HD or Sonicview 8000HD

I had a bad experience by receiving an altered (hacked) Sonicview 8000HD that I bought as new from an obviously not reputable dealer - it's still sitting here for them to claim it. Thus, I am back in the market and I am asking for guidance which receiver I shall buy. I am also open for any...

I bought this device at GoSatellite.com as a NEW unit. I am communicating with them right now. So far they said: "All of our Sonicviews (and all other receivers) are factory sealed by the manufacture".

Melbfla, thanks for this lead; I could set long & lat and motor works as it should. BUT I can find Echostar 7 at 119 W only, no other satellite gives a Q value regardless what I try. Also, after I scan & save channels form Echostar 7 I get "channel change error" and can't switch to any channel...

motor/receiver setuo I searched manual and menu of SV HD8000 but found no setup that enables input of long and lat. The only thing I found under "user options" I can select state and city!? Is there anything else?

Addendum: In satellite search when I set motor to USALS and select "go to satellite position" the motor doesn't move, wen I select "go to reference" the dish goes all the way east? I can control the dish correctly with going E or W under "motor".

Well, there is good and bad news, I believe. I followed your instructions (at hellish temperatures) and didn't find a signal from NIMIQ (82) or any other satellite in the south but through scanning E to W I found Echostar 7 at 119 W AS THE ONLY SOURCE ANYWHERE. But after I scanned this satellite...
