    How many out there.......

I signed up for Comcast today and it will be installed tomorrow. I was still carrying E* but cancelled them today. I had been with them since 1998. The best they could offer me was for me to pay $100 for an 821 receiver. I'm getting an HD DVR for free from Comcast. Oh well. So long satellite.

    Full Circle

Back in '98 I switched to E* from Comcast which in my area at that time had a mere 44 channels. E* was still fairly young and I was taking a risk. I paid around $1000 to get E* installed (this was about a year before all of the free deals starting coming out). At the time it was well worth...

    HELP - STB Channel Surf/Picture Freeze/Installation menu N/A..

I'm also from the DC area and have had repeated lock ups on all 4 of my STBs in the last couple of days. My kids are very annoyed at this point and of course it's my fault for switching from E* (which they loved). I really like what Voom has to offer but my patience is growing thin. If anyone...

    It's over for me

Regarding the locals and Voom I have been a Voomer for about a month now. I am still up in the air with them as I am about to have my fourth service call regarding the local channels and a faulty STB. After an antennae upgrade and then an antennae repositioning, I am going to be receiving an...

Breaking News: Flash From Voom Website: VOOM ceasing Operation by end of March

Voom Shutting Down Doesn't everyone think that message was very unprofessional and may be the result of a hacker? It seems to me that they would at least thank their subscribers or something to that effect.

    Crap antenna installed

Thanks Vicki :) As you can see from my last post, I am liking it. My daughter has come around and is enjoying it. My son on the other hand wants to cancel it :( Oh well. Can't please them all. I did keep an E* box going for now for just such emergencies. The customer service did remind me...

    Crap antenna installed

Thank you for the explanation although now knowing this makes me kind of mad. I thought he should have took the the boxes as well. This was a huge difference from when I moved a few years ago and had an installer move my then existing satellite. I recommended E* to my sister and she had it...

    Crap antenna installed

No OTA for me I had Voom installed today. I've been a long time E* subscriber and wanted HD. The installer while nice, was not very knowledgeable about Voom. He left before the boxes were finished downloading and left all of the receiver boxes on floor where he opened them. Of course after...

Voom Alive! --- 21 days & counting (post sale of Rainbow 1)

Thanks jbcheshire. I'm actually buying an HDTV on Saturday. I wasn't planning on buying it with a tuner installed but now I'm not sure. I was having the Voom installed prior to getting the TV as I had to wait to get my bonus this weekend and the installer doesn't install on Saturdays. I live...

Voom Alive! --- 21 days & counting (post sale of Rainbow 1)

No install for me Well, I received a call yesterday from the installer stating that due to the bad weather, broken down trucks and installers calling out sick, they had to postpone my install to next Thursday. I really wanted to see the Super Bowl in HD so I am kinda bummed about that...

Voom Alive! --- 21 days & counting (post sale of Rainbow 1)

Install this week I am also scheduled for an install. It is this Thursday between 8 AM and 12 PM. I will also let everyone know if it happens and if the installer has any insight. I did get my Welcome to Voom package in the mail on Friday. I too hope that if they happen to go under, E*...

    The End of VOOM?

Just signed up for Voom I've read all the posts but I figured for $1 installation, what the heck? I called today and talked to the CSR about the sale. She read me a pre-scripted memo regarding the sale to Dish stating they will continue providing service for now. I'm hoping that if Voom does...

    Looking to switch to Voom

Thanks to all for the information. I think that I will probably wait until March (thanks Jagouar) to make the switch. I do have a PVR system with E* and have loved it. I was willing to give it up but if I only have to wait for a couple of months then so be it.

    Looking to switch to Voom

Sean, Thank you for your response. I made this same agonizing decision several years ago when I made the switch from cable. At least if I change this time, it won't cost me over a thousand dollars like it did last time and I will hold on to my Dish equipment for a while just in case.

    Looking to switch to Voom

I am a new user to this site. I have been reading for days and have found most of the posts very informative. I have Dish Network currently and after 7 - 8 years of paying a lot of money for equipment (purchased system before they started giving it away) on installs, upgrades and new boxes, I...
