    SNY Gone Tomorrow? (It's Gone!)

Time Warner offered us a deal like that (up to $200) if we bundled phone, internet & cable.

    SNY Gone Tomorrow? (It's Gone!)

Agreed, if you are waiting and hoping, you're going to be disappointed. SNY has said all along that Dish has had very little contact with them and has not seriously negotiated.

Why does Dish carry the sd version of locals when HD version is available?

It was similar here when I left Dish in April. All but one of the locals (NBC) broadcast in HD and are on cable in HD, but they were all SD on Dish.

    SNY Gone Tomorrow? (It's Gone!)

Very similar story here, 10+ years, Dish had little to say when I told them why I was cancelling (no NY RSN). I have cable, which does have MSG in HD, and I have come to really like the MLB Network - didn't know what I was missing. I would have stayed if Ii thought they were at least making an...

    MLB network

Despite any statements to the contrary Dish may make, it is clear from their actions that sports are on the black list. By the way, since switching to cable and discovering what the MLB Network has to offer, I am enamored with it.

    SNY Gone Tomorrow? (It's Gone!)

I'm a true blue fan. I don't care if they win or lose, I will watch. Besides, doesn't look like anyone can write them off just yet.

    SNY Gone Tomorrow? (It's Gone!)

Left at the end of April. Time Warner will give you cable/internet/phone for $99, and if you talk to a sales rep they'll give you some sort of credit for the ETF. There's been a slight learning curve going back to cable after 10 years with Dish, especially with the guide (Time Warner's guide...

    Cancelled Dish 6 weeks ago...

Mine arrived about a week after cancelling. Are they threatening you with charging you for the receiver?

I live in rural upstate NY and recently switched from Dish to cable (because of SNY). We live in a valley and get nothing watchable on OTA antenna. With Dish we were in the Binghamton DMA, and got the Binghamton ABC, CBS, Fox & PBS, and the Elmira NBC since Binghamton doesn't have an NBC (and...

    Best way to cancel

I feel your pain. My story is almost identical to yours, I really did have some angst leaving Dish after 10+ years. There has been a bit of a learning curve going back to cable (especially with the crappy program guide), but I haven't missed a Mets game since switching and SNY is HD full time.

    Best way to cancel

I cancelled two weeks ago after having been with Dish for over 10 years. I switched to cable because of sports, specifically SNY. When I called to cancel, the CSR asked what service I was considering switching to. When I said I already had Time Warner, we went through the process in less than 2...

    SNY Gone Tomorrow? (It's Gone!)

Not at all, Tampa, and I think you may have missed my point. While Dish does have a very low subscriber rate in NYC (as does Direct), upstate has many more. The presumption is that those outside NYC do not care about the RSN because they're city teams. Add to that that before the SNY thing, Dish...

    SNY Gone Tomorrow? (It's Gone!)

Perplexes me, too. Reading the little Charlie has said on the subject, it seems he doesn't believe New Yorkers care about sports, or at least RSNs. I don't think that attitude will change unless it affects his bottom line and the only way for that to happen is a mass exodus of Dish subscribers...

PR: DISH Network ONLY NATIONWIDE TV PROVIDER TO DELIVER game show network in HD

Wow, I bet people are just going to be flocking to Dish now, putting Direct and the big cable companies out of business.

Option to buy Direct equipment & avoid contract?

I recently left Dish for Time Warner so I could watch my Mets. We real fans don't care if they are losing, even though Charlie thinks they're worth less if they lose. I did pay Dish an ETF because I was under contract because I had signed up for the free HD for life thing. At any rate, I could...

    SNY Gone Tomorrow? (It's Gone!)

I wholeheartedly agree. Most people outside NY do not realize what a really small part of the state NYC is, and that, because of the way the city is with high rise apartments, etc., there are actually very few Dish subscribers in the city. Upstate is huge. It's nearly 400 miles from Buffalo to...

Time Warner Guide - Nobody else finds it cumbersome?

OK, so now that we got that out of the way, back to my original question about using the TV's menu. I'll probably actually have time to give this a try this weekend, but if I connect my tv to my cable box using a regular coax cable or by some other means besides HDMI, will I be able to scan for...

    SNY Gone Tomorrow? (It's Gone!)

My experience was similar when I switched to cable - I wish Fios was available here. At any rate, yes, it does seem that Dish might be a little more concerned for longtime customers - I was also a 10+ year customer. But I've seen every Mets game in HD since switching last week.

Time Warner Guide - Nobody else finds it cumbersome?

OK, Jayn, I am a relative HD newbie. My cable box (HD/DVR) has several ways to connect to my TV, including HDMI, a regular coax cable type connection, and RCA type connections. So, are you saying that unless I use one of the HDMI connections, I won't see any HD TV and will only get the lower...

    SNY Gone Tomorrow? (It's Gone!)

I've heard the SNY place holder is gone from the menu now. True?

Time Warner Guide - Nobody else finds it cumbersome?

Cablecard's not an option, too few channels (and my 6-month-old TV doesn't have a slot). But I'm not sure I'm understanding something here. If I used the regular cable connection from my box to the TV instead of the HDMI cable, that's not really analog, is it?

Time Warner Guide - Nobody else finds it cumbersome?

Thanks for the input, Jayn. I actually only have one set, and interestingly enough I had recently looked at Tivo. I am a cheapskate at heart, though, and I think the fee for Tivo is too much for what it is, especially considering what is charged by cable/satellite for essentially the same thing...

    SNY Gone Tomorrow? (It's Gone!)

Yep, baseball is indeed baseball, and I haven't missed a Mets game since switching to cable.

    Termination Question

For what it's worth, I called and cancelled while watching SNY in HD after cable was installed. When the CnSR asked what provider I was considering switching to, I told her I already had cable installed. There was no argument, no switching me over to customer loyalty, she just went ahead and did...

Time Warner Guide - Nobody else finds it cumbersome?

I recently switched from Dish to TWC because I wanted SNY. While I didn't expect the same guide features I had with Dish (multiple customizable menus, etc.), I did expect something better than this. No customization, channels in some random order, the whole menu with hundreds of channels to look...
