    Need some direction

Just an update, hope this all makes sense. I am at my mom's this weekend and my aunt (who lives next door) also got the same call from "Dish", but she doesn't actually have dish anymore. My Mom said they told her she needed to pay the $200 or they would shut it off. My Mom said she wasn't...

    Need some direction

I wasn't there of course, so I am only going off what she remembered. Mostly "upgrade and $200" But the fact she said she lost her signal still tells me it was from Dish themselves.

    Need some direction

This does sound a lot like what she described, only issue being that they actually turned off her service? Any way that could happen if it wasn't a legit Dish employee? Like do 3rd party retailers of Dish have this power? Dish network scam calls

    Need some direction

Thanks, When my mom called me, she said she was scammed, or hacked, or something like that. When I walked her through the whole thing, I took bits and pieces to form what I think happened. The weird part was that she said the call came in and the caller ID was listed as "Federated Insurance"...

    Need some direction

I'll try to keep this as short and sweet as I can, I just got a call from my Mom (elderly-lives alone) this morning talking about dish shutting down her signal. The way I understand it, they called and told her she had to upgrade to the hopper/joey system. They told her it would be $200...

    722 questions

hey all, recently I picked up a used 722 and am having a few "problems" my biggest annoyance is the timer function. I can't seem to get it to just record the new episodes. For example, I have a timer set for myth busters. I have it set to just record the new episodes, but as we speak it is...

    My Recordings within DishOnline

couple dish 1000? basic questions I am replacing my owned 322 with an owned 722. I need to replace my dish 500, but which one? By my research it looks like the dish 1000 is what I need, and it looks like any version (east/west/.2/.4 will work here in MN? Just want to make sure I am on the...

Um, need a crash course in Dish Network.

Will put a level on the base, and will try to set the mast up so it is level when he puts it in the up position. Thanks for the tips. Brew

Um, need a crash course in Dish Network.

Little update, I worked on the skid today, and have a few pics. any tips to improve it are welcome. One pic is of it in the "up" position, one pic is "folded" and the last one is how I made the LNB bracket foldable. The fram itself is probably a little small, but like I said earlier, it was...

good point, maybe some skids welded to the end of the threaded rod might be the way to go. Brew

Um, need a crash course in Dish Network.

For the skid mount, I was thinking about drilling a hole in the corners, welding a nut on the frame, then using long bolts, or just threaded rod, threaded through the nuts to level it. Sound ok? Part of the reason I want to go this route is I already have the frame part built. I built it...

Um, need a crash course in Dish Network.

Is the tripod the way to go? I was thinking more along the lines of something like this since I could make one pretty quick at home. It does tend to get quite windy around here since it is so flat, thought one of these might be more stable, especially if we threw a sandbag or something on it...

Um, need a crash course in Dish Network.

well, the way I look at is, for about $100 I can get them completely set up for this summer. If they decide next year that they really like having DN in their RV, and they hate setting up the dish, at that point all they need to do is get a self contained antennas and be good to go. Unless I...

Um, need a crash course in Dish Network.

That was exactly my thoughts too, but they really want sat. and this is one of the biggest reasons we don't want to get really carried away price wise (in case they decide it is too much work). I think if I can get it all set up for them, and make it as simple as I can, it will work though.

Um, need a crash course in Dish Network.

Thanks, I was wondering about a satellite finder. Is there a *cheap* one that is normally recommended? I was going to pick up one of the cheap analog ones, but saw this one at amazon, Amazon.com: DSF120+ Digital Satellite Finder | Digital Satellite Meter: Electronics and read a few reviews...

Um, need a crash course in Dish Network.

After a little more research, it sounds like I would just need a separator at the receiver if I went with the 322? So I could hook a single coax from one of the two LNB's, run it to the receiver and then use a separator there? I think their camper is from the mid 90's so I know it has a cable...

Um, need a crash course in Dish Network.

Hey all, I am hoping I can get some help on setting up a Dish Network system. My Parents have Dish Network right now in their home, and would like to hook up a receiver in their RV. I was asked to figure out how and what they will need. Money is a very important factor, so we can not go with...
