What will you do if D* doesn't announce new national HD channels today???

I'm in the same boat. I currently have D* as my main provider, and of course I'm hooked on Sunday Ticket. I subscribe to only the HD package on E*, but it's kind of a waste since the only thing I watch is an occasional movie on Monsters HD. So I'm going to drop E* completely. I'm debating...

Voom to stay HDLITE in MPEG 4

I agree. What a complete, utter joke. It's like someone lost all their integrity when being in the company of celebrities. Also, the implication that you can't tell the difference between 1280 x 1080 versus 1920 x 1080 on lower resolution TVs is also false. Even on "ED" (480p) projectors, the...

Dish messing with Voom, All are now HD-Lite 1280x1080i: Discuss this issue HERE!

In my opinion, they still looked much better when Voom broadcast them, even at lower resolution. Of course, I'm using a Dish 6000, but they've never looked the same to me after viewing them over Dish. I still use my old Voom receiver for OTA, and the picture is SO much clearer than when I'm...

Some Possible HD movies coming to Monsters HD & Film Fest HD

Sean, thanks very much. I like watching all those trailers, though I wish people used the "discuss" option to talk about the films. That has the potential to be a cool movie forum. Looks like MonstersHD is picking up a bit. I'm glad I've held on to it. At times I've thought about just...

Where do you have to look at the site to find that? I've gone over it several times and couldn't find anything. Thanks

We Really Had It Great With Voom!!

I'm still using a couple of my Voom receivers for OTA, and they actually do a better job of pulling in signals than my Directv Samsung HD box. I'm also still using my Voom dish to pull the 61.5 Voom channels from Dish (I bought a used Dish HD receiver and just subscribe to the HD package)...

Some Possible HD movies coming to Monsters HD & Film Fest HD

After looking at the listings for the next couple weeks on zap2it, they're finally mixing up the content on MonstersHD. They'll be showing reruns of course, but at least it's movies we haven't seen in a while like Inseminoid, various old Monsterama episodes, etc. I just can't handle seeing any...

Which is better Dish's HD or Dirctv's HD

I'd give the edge to Dish as well. Voom was also better than D*. I have both Dish and DirecTV but I'm finding less and less incentive to hang onto DirecTV at all. Hopefully things will change for the better when the new sats are working, I'm just tired of waiting because it seems like for years...

Monsters HD: The Monster That Challenged the World (1957, SciFi) 11:30pm/8:00pm ET

This is a surprisingly entertaining movie. MGM released it as part of their Midnite Movies line, and it's nice to see it appear in HD.

Some Possible HD movies coming to Monsters HD & Film Fest HD

I'd love to see The Creeping Flesh in HD! It's not even available on DVD, and I've wanted it for some time. Peter Cushing stars in it, and it has a really nasty, creepy monster in it that sort of reminds me of the Alien/human hybrid (Ripley's offspring) from the finale of Alien Resurrection...

can you get Dish HD service only using the previous Voom satellite?

I'm using 2 Voom dishes (one pointed at 61.5 and one at 110) and an SW21 switch to receive just the HD channels. I bought a used 6000 receiver, and it's working fine. Right now I'm just paying $15/month for the 16 HD channels (it'll go up $5 about 5 months from now). I'm actually considering...

    new Voom channels pic troubles..??

Currently, my 6000 is working fine at 720p. I had to adjust the picture to the left about 5 clicks, but after doing that it's looking great. On my setup (Optoma H31 projector) it actually looks superior to 1080i. That's only because of my PJ though. Most people will probably find 1080i to be better.

720p is unwatchable on my 6000 STB

Stacy, thanks very much for the info. You were right, ajusting the picture to the left did the trick. I think I moved it 5 clicks to the left and now I'm having no trouble using 720p with the 6000. Thanks again!!

720p is unwatchable on my 6000 STB

I recently picked up a 6000 HD receiver and subscribed to just the HD/Voom package. Overall, I'm happy with it except that most of the channels look horrible over 720p with my receiver. 1080i is much better. The problem, though is that my projector (Optoma H31) puts out a much sharper picture...

Get out your wallet. ST in HD now $318.00

I'm not paying the extra $99 for the exact same thing I had last year. That's just nuts. Yes, I can afford it, but it's the principle of the matter. I know some people will gladly let DirecTV get away with anything and happily accept it, but I'm not one of them. I'm going to cancel my ST...

    For what it's worth...

I watched Monsters more than any other channel. And I'm getting it on Dish too since it's available. I'd pay $20/month for that channel alone. I would take MonstersHD over any of the networks, too. So everyone has different tastes. I'm just glad to still have the option to watch my favorite HD...

Can you just do Voom/HD pack on E*

Don't worry if you are a former subscriber, you can still subscribe to just the HD pack. The only bad part is, they charge you a $25 re-activation fee.

How To Use Your Voom Dish With Dish Network..

You know, I still think it's a good deal getting 10 HD channels for $20 like you would if you just have a dish pointed at 61.5. If they expand to all 21 channels then it becomes a great deal (even if they raised the price another $5). I never watched the SD channels anyway.

HD ONLY Package Pricing at Dish Network..

If they give you any trouble about denying you the Voom channels then make sure you tell them that you were a Voom customer (whether you actually were or not). DIsh sent out an email about how only new/former Voom customers can get the new channels. My friend was denied the channels because...

How To Use Your Voom Dish With Dish Network..

It sounds like if they're going to install a new dish for the 110/119 satellite it will be new so the lnb is DishPro. In that case they'll have to change out the Voom lnb since it's a Legacy lnb. But if you had an older Dish500 for 110/119 with a Legacy lnb then you could continue using your...

Using Voom dish with a 921 DVR

Thanks for the answers. For the SW44 (or SW64), you would run 2 cables from each dish into the switch (for a total of 4 cables if I'm just trying to to use 61.5 and 110) and then 2 cables out to the 921 (since it's a 2-tuner DVR)?

Using Voom dish with a 921 DVR

I know you can use the Voom dish (it has a legacy lnb pointed at 61.5) with some of the HD receivers (6000 and 811) as long as you have an SW21 switch and another legacy lnb dish pointed at 110. What would different about the setup if I purchased a 921? What switch would I need to use 2...

Voom's free switchover offer to Dish far from free...

I notice there's a brand new JVC 6000 system with dish and everything on ebay for $250. Would this be a good deal? When you refer to a legacy dish, is that the old single LNB dish? If so, I could kick myself now because I had one up until last summer when I moved and switched providers...

Voom's free switchover offer to Dish far from free...

So you have to get a 6000 receiver to use Voom's LNB? I'm actually thinking about just receiving channels from 61.5 from Dish if I could get a cheap receiver and use my existing dish from Voom. It's worth $20 per month to me to get the Voom channels. If I got an 811 or one the DVRs, the...
