HELP: Trying to set up a cheap $25 receiver to help me aim my dish

Hello, I'm using a cheap $25 receiver (brand is "Junuo") as a signal strength meter to help me aim my dish. I'm having a bit of trouble figuring out which settings are needed to be set. The receiver does not have any North American satellites added, so I'm having to manually add all the details...

Sunstar ST-5000HD DVB-S2 HD HDMI receiver for $44 shipped

Well...crap!! This is not good. I ordered one and I do have the shipping information for it. I guess I'll just count this as a $44 loss, if this much bad stuff is going down... If anyone has a suggestion for what I should do, please let me know!

    Satellite finder suggestions?

LOL, wow, I'm special. Yeah you are right, I assembled it with the wrong elevation range. I set it up for 50-90 degrees. According to the instructions, there are three elevation ranges, 20-57, 50-90, and 0-20: https://www.satelliteav.com/portal/33/images/GEOSATpro_90cm_AssemblyDiagram.pdf I'll...

    Satellite finder suggestions?

OK so I am a bit confused about elevation, and would like some help, please!! My GEOSATpro 90cm dish has an offset value of 24.62 degrees. According to dishpointer.com, from the exact place the dish is mounted, 97w (Galaxy 19) is at elevation 31.7 degrees. With a guide I've found on the...

    Satellite finder suggestions?

GEOSATpro 90 cm dish and the GEOSATpro SL1PLL LNBF. It's dead sexy!! And yeah, as for elevation, I'm using the marks on the back of the dish. Dishpointer says 31.7 degrees elevation. YOU KNOW WHAT, I didn't skew my LNB...it's at 0 degrees right now...... LOLOLOLOLOLOL

    Satellite finder suggestions?

I've been using that website a lot, and the Android apps I've been using appear to use the same techniques, and even draw a line. My problem is that despite this, signal quality is still 0-1%, making me think my azimuth is off. Since my dish doesn't have something that shows me azimuth, I've...

    Satellite finder suggestions?

Hello! OK so yeah, I decided to take the advice of not using my motor yet until I can figure out how to aim my dish manually. So far I really suck at it!! I've been trying to get Galaxy 19 but haven't had much luck. There are a couple nifty free satellite aiming applications on my Android...

Another annoying n00b asking about Receivers

Thanks Brian! I will properly ground it all. Hey, I think you're the one I got the 90cm dish and LNB from on eBay! It came packaged quite well. Now, to find a microHD!

Another annoying n00b asking about Receivers

Awesome. I'm excited now. My wife doesn't understand why...in fact, she's pissing and moaning about the dish being on the roof in the first place (even though it's only 90cm and black, like the color of our roof). Women... Thanks again guys!! I'll aim it manually first just so that I fully...

Another annoying n00b asking about Receivers

I am kinda curious how well the dish motor is going to work. I've been using dishpointer.com to see what directions the motor will need to turn to. The LNB skew and elevations are all different. How does one compensate for those variances when using a dish motor? That's what I'm currently not...

Another annoying n00b asking about Receivers

Thanks guys! I will just go for the microHD box if it will save me from future annoyances. As for the roof mount, all I need to do is step out of my bedroom window to get onto the portion of roof where it will be mounted. It will definitely be my first dish mounting, ever...wish me luck! That...

Another annoying n00b asking about Receivers

Hello! Yep, I'm a n00b. This is an amazing forum!! I've been reading as many stickies as I can. All amazing information. I've recently tried to up my nerd level by investing in some FTA equipment. As of now, I have purchased and assembled (but not put on the roof yet): - GEOSATpro 90 cm dish -...
