Directv dispute with Viacom IS OVER!

Oh, and here's a couple links to help explain just how rough things are for the two companies in today's financial climate to help keep things in perspective. :) Viacom profit up 56%, boosted by higher cable fees - latimes.com DirecTV profit up; adds fewer US subs than expected | Reuters...

Directv dispute with Viacom IS OVER!

I see it as a dual fault scenario. As Dangue said, Viacom did give Direct an extra 10 days or so to try to work things out in good faith. If there's no movement from the other side (DTV) towards an amicable solution, when do you pull the plug or play hardball? The answer is apparently "after...

    Fyre TV Sucks

Well, if they don't retract their claim, since I was never a paying customer in the first place, but an unpaid beta tester, I *will* proceed as needed legally. In Missouri, it's only $25 for Small Claims court. :)

    Fyre TV Sucks

Odd- I just got a Collections Letter in the mail from when I was a Beta Tster for them... came here looking to see if anyone else was having issues. They want me to pay $359.95! Ridiculous!

    Whole Home DVR Not Connected??

Hmmm... Not a huge deal to use the in-place ethernet cables, but the original problem is that it wasn't working. Kinda of odd in design to me that the DECA won't work while the DVR is Ethernet connected. Really don't like the idea of giving up On-Demand for WH-DVR, and adding extra equip to...

    Whole Home DVR Not Connected??

Hi, got a new install with the HR24 and H24 IRD's. Everything was fine as far as I know until tonight when I tried to look at the playlist from the H24. It kept freezing the box when it was 'updating' the "My Playlist". Both units were connected to coax for satellite and ethernet. It was...

    Unbiased Dish vs Direct Comparison

well, I'm less than a week in on D*, and so far I've only noticed a few things different. But for the next 2 years, my bill will be significant;y cheaper on D*, which is a big selling point for me. I do think the HD looks better on D* over E*, but everyone will need to trust their own eyes on...

    Receiver froze up?

Wow-- glad I stumbled on this thread! I was *kinda* concerned, but not freaking out... my new HR24 just rebooted on it's own! I've got it on a UPS (which after the auto-reboot I verified the installer hooked it up to the right port!), and there is weather in the area, so I was thinking maybe...

    HR24 vs. VIP722

I've not tried anything other than the HR24/H24, but both seem quite a bit slower to respond than the 722's I just left behind. Especially when fast forwarding shows. It may not be so much the remote or STB, but could just be the way it indexes video. (?)

Another Dish Net sub thinking of jumping to Direct - Questions . . .

DodgerKing, Not sure of the accuracy of my source, but my installer stated that all they were installing now were H24's and HR24's for new subs. I guess it's possible you could request the H20, or maybe it varies by area.

Made the jump- Anything I should know?? :)

Oh hey! You can show the $10 HD for life for free credit in your work now! Called in yesterday and within 10 minutes got the credit for the full 24 month term, plus got a one-time $20 credit for paperless billing! (That will offset the original $21 shipping fee for equip... which is weird, but...

Another Dish Net sub thinking of jumping to Direct - Questions . . .

Treiher, The jump was worth it for me. There are a few trade outs as kind of mentioned here already. --No native OTA support, but a $50 module will fix that. I'm supposed to have on being sent this week, but isn't here yet. --The record 2 shows, or watch one, record one is nice...

Free HD Access for EXISTING customers

Well, that was rather simple! $10 credit is already applied for this month, and should be there for the next 23 months! :)

Free HD Access for EXISTING customers

Called in about it... the rep said I could get the $10 credit for the 2 year life of contract if I signed up for autopay online, then called back. For some reason, they couldn't activate autopay for me via phone. Was an older gal I was talking to who seemed a little confused, but I think was...

Made the jump- Anything I should know?? :)

I was told the $14 was subject to credit approval. Not sure what that has to do with anything, but they checked while on the phone, and it was approved. :) So yes, the $14 was part of it. And the AAA Discount gives the sub the full $20 referral bonus instead of a $10 bonus, and a $10 to...

    $15 to ship receiver?

Had the same $15 charge option when I called to CXL yesterday. Gave the CSR what for when she asked me if I was sure I didn't want to transfer service to a friend or relative! lol Anyway, they said they could give me the shipping label for $15, or I could pay to have it shipped back via the...

Made the jump- Anything I should know?? :)

If that was what you agreed to, great. The package I agreed to (and the rep confirmed, so this is what I *expect* to see on the bill) will take me to $49.99/mo for the first 12 months (to June 2011). Then I go to $62.99 for the next 7 months (to January 2012). Then the final five months at...

Made the jump- Anything I should know?? :)

I think you missed the rest of my message, or my point in general. I *CAN* watch On Demand on the H24 via the DECA Whole Home Networking *IF* I 'demand' it from the HR24 first. My suggestion was to simply be able to 'demand' it via the H24 to save to the HR24 and then be able to watch from the...

Made the jump- Anything I should know?? :)

Hmmm.. I hope they change or add to the software on that then-- seems like a wasted feature since it's running under Whole Home DVR. And isn't MRV via Ethernet a thing of the past with the 24 series? It appears I can 'demand' something on the HR24, and then watch from the H24, just not...

Made the jump- Anything I should know?? :)

Install complete. Guy did a really nice job of cleaning up some of the Dish Network wiring mess. Dish had 4 wires from the dish itself, Direct only needed one, so he pulled the rest and trashed em. The HR24 and H24 are both in. Anyone know why I'm not getting On Demand services on the H24...

Made the jump- Anything I should know?? :)

Installer is here now-- he's never heard of nor does he have the AM21, but he *is* putting in the RF modulator for the old TV. Also, Loaf, they use a different size bracket, but he did take down the D.N. dish, reused the coax, and put the new DirecTV dish in the same general location as the old...

    Bye bye and Thanks, Dish!

Ok, so one cord is now cut. Just disco'd with Dish Network. Odd how they still try to nickle and dime you to death wanting me to pay to ship their equipment back. Oh well, kinda happy to be done with them, even with the new promotion they started today. (Murphy's Law is still functioning...

Made the jump- Anything I should know?? :)

Well, guess I'll have to call back on Wednesday and hope I get someone who knows a little more than the guy I talked to today! Will report back as I find out more on their install plans.

    Bye bye and Thanks, Dish!

@kstuart: Unless I'm missing something, nope. Even right now on the "My Account Page", it offers me St. Louis, Mo Locals for $5.99. I'm going to guess that America's Top 120, which is what I have, doesn't fall in your list of 'every package'. And I thought I was already being specific, not...

    Bye bye and Thanks, Dish!

Wow... that BLOWS! Well, if Direct isn't working out by Summer 2012, maybe I'll try Charter. They'll probably be bought by a more reputable company by then anyway. :)
