SlingTV Invites going out tonight 1/26

This seems like a stop gap measure if I ever seen one, or at best it's a work in progress. Future of TV to me seems like, or at least hope will be a future where the middle man that is the cable/satellite provider is removed from the equation.

    DISH bill when up $5

Talk with customer service, and see if you can get a discount. Otherwise, do what I did: re-examine your bill. You might find things on there you do not really want/need.

Netflix comes to the Hopper with Sling

Played with the app for only a couple of minutes, but so far, it feels decent. Granted, it will not replace my Roku 3 for a variety reasons, but it's a decent Netflix experience nonetheless. Not the best, but I've certainly seen worse. If nothing else, it shows me that my issues with Dish's UI...

    DISH Expands High-Definition Programming

In my case, does me little good. Disney HD and ABC Family HD come in on the 110, which is usually a very low signal at my location. Whatever. I do not really watch either channel, regardless.

    Super Joey Specs

I would say that is a very good guess, and that's why I am waiting to upgrade to the SJ, among other reasons. I'm still on the contract extension from upgrading to the HWS last year.

    Price for virtual Joey??

I get why from a Dish perspective it make sense to keep the same fee, but from a customer perspective, it's kind of lame, to be honest. Granted, being able to have the VJ installed in multiple rooms is kind of cool for people with guest rooms and the like, but I am guessing that's not most...

    Hopper with sling improvements

Generally feels decent, aside from a few bugs. That being said, Hopper/Joey UI feels about a step or two behind a more modern UI like new Netflix UI on Roku 3. Which, granted, people have had their complaints about it, but personally, I am a fan of it, despite some flaws. Feels very modern...

DISH Energizes Hopper Platform at CES!

Well, I said it is a bit ridiculous, but yes, IMHO. If it is not for you, that's cool. And like I said, give me the option to buy the Super Joey outright to avoid the fee/charge (or whatever you want to call it), a la cable modem, and for all I care, Dish can charge whatever they want. Oh, and...

DISH Energizes Hopper Platform at CES!

$10? Damn. I really wish you could buy the Super Joey outright, so we could avoid these stupid rental fees, a la cable modem. Oh well. I guess I'll just stick with my regular Joey. Yes, Super Joey is only $3 more than the original Joey, but for what the Super Joey is, $10 is bit ridiculous, IMHO.

    Virtual Joey

If you still have to pay the monthly fee for the PlayStation app, I fail to see the point. I mean, I guess it's great for those who do not have coaxial connection in the bedroom, but if virtual Joey runs anything like the other current dish mobile apps (as in, they run like crap, in my...

DISH to buy T-Mobile in 2014?

What excellent opportunity? What brand value? Blockbuster was a dying company when Dish purchased them.

Price increases in February 2014 (UPDATED!)

Problem is, it's not like the competition is whole lot better. I left Comcast's TV portion almost 4 years ago, and they still have the same basic problems. More expensive, for less HD channels.

OT: DirecTV Considers Dropping Channels And Offering An Internet Video Service

In my case, about 2 years ago, I dropped from AT250 to AT120, along with dropping HBO & Starz full-time (I still subscribe to HBO/HBO Go twice a year for a 4-5 weeks at a time), and I've found I've lost little programming I really care about. Hell, even with a reduced package, between Dish...

DISH to buy T-Mobile in 2014?

Makes sense, if it's true. Dish has wanted to get into the wireless business for quite a while. I mean, it's the main reason they purchased Blockbuster. This. Saying Dish ran Blockbuster into the ground is revision history. If anything, it was the opposite. Dish help to extend Blockbuster's...

Price increases in February 2014 (UPDATED!)

I do not have satellite radio, so you tell me.

Price increases in February 2014 (UPDATED!)

Pretty much sums up my thoughts. Otherwise, providers making HD a premium is why stretch-a-vision continues to be a huge problem in 2013. I think you are dreaming if you really think a DirecTV/Dish merger would lead to lower prices. If anything, it would probably lead to higher prices.

Price increases in February 2014 (UPDATED!)

Whatever. I cancelled the protection plan a couple of months ago, and this price increase pretty much eats up those savings. I do love this announcement comes at a time when I am not getting my local ABC and Fox stations due to fee fights. I am sure my Comcast Internet bill will be going up as...

    Echostar Satellite Status Update

For me, that would be horrible, as I get almost nothing on the 110.

G4 gone: SoapNet and G4 ceasing operations/distribution soon?

That's not going to happen. Firstly, WWE already tried to buyout a NBC universal channel in Universal HD, but Comcast was not interested. Secondly, WWE is not going the package route. Providers just were not interested. WWE Network, if it ever launches, will be a paid subscription channel, a...

Blockbuster to close all 300 remaining stores and distribution centers by end of December 2013 or ea

Just because Family Video has found some success in the marketplace, does not mean that B&M rental is not dying. It just means they have found themselves a niche in the marketplace. I mean, considering where the B&M rental business was 15-20 years ago in comparison to now, it's in shambles...

Blockbuster to close all 300 remaining stores and distribution centers by end of December 2013 or ea

From what I understand, it just means they are just using the Blockbuster brand. They are licensing it. Now, why the hell they would still want to use that brand, I have no idea.

Blockbuster to close all 300 remaining stores and distribution centers by end of December 2013 or ea

Not to mention, I do not know what need there is for those services? Paying bills is increasing going online, there's still physical main-in option, and for everyone else, there's already plenty of walk-in options in the marketplace. As for returning/swapping boxes/equipment, there's already...

Blockbuster to close all 300 remaining stores and distribution centers by end of December 2013 or ea

Reading the article on IGN, it said it's still possible a few BB stores may stay open, due to the way franchise licensing works.

This. Anything relating to BB@Home can be covered in the general Dish forum.
