I have a Sony XDR-F1HD not working for many years. Apparently these have an overheating problem which damages the power supply and might be repairable. I've never bothered to investigate since there is only 1 HD station in my area. Yours for shipping cost.

Yes, it is. After reading your comment I applied voltage to the terminals and the motor spins. I guess I could have done that before I disassembled the gears. (On the other hand nice to learn how something works.)

I ripped the whole thing apart. I noticed the motor would jerk as I released (not when I depressed) the manual switches so I took the gears apart too, to make sure nothing was froze up. Everything checked out including the limit switches (checking with volt/ohm meter). So I guess I'm stuck, but...

Nope, that's not it. I think I posted earlier in this thread how I got the reciever to miss the recording due to dish moving. I've also seen that the clock has reset at least twice when recording through midnight. Once it stopped the recording, another it recorded the program successfully, but...

Mine has reset the time twice since my last post which apparently happens when it starts up to record a program. And still misses one some recordings for some reason, it seems the dish doesn't get to sattelite location quick enough. Other times it does work for the same program.
