I'm so sure just because it makes no sense to ask for them back. There is no way it would be profitable, and I think they would want to cut thier losses.

Just got official word that not only will ota be disabled but an explosion with enough force to destroy your entire house will result unless you personally drive the recievers back to voom and they disable the time bomb!!!!!!!!! :p

would be nice if e would let ex voom subs get just the hd channels (don't have the line of sight for their other birds) wonder if they would consider this?

Dish should offer the 10 voom channels to ex voomers at a good rate ...say 10 or 12 per month now that would be awesome!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Wait and see...Voom will not pick up or send boxes for any of their equipment, Why????? Because it would cost them more than they could get for them ...having to pay people to recieve and catalog them shipping...why do you think they would do that??????? Just wait and see.

Shouldn't need a hack just a way to change the software back after a hard reset, voom should provide this to people who bought recievers the rest of us could borrow it. :)

There should be some sort of downloadable firmware upgrade in case of accidental reset i see the voom box has the connections, this wouldn't be hacking so don't even start :) .If motorola wont release it I hope someone out there can get one to work.

My line of site wont allow me to get hd dtv so I got it with the tivo and free 3 months of premiums. Was watching the race on dtv turned it to voom ota local and it was sick how much difference there is in the picture! I hope our ota recievers keep working!!!! Locals on dtv are not very sharp at...

In regards to the original post. By trying to save half a months subcribtion you cost yourself a free ota reciever!!!!!!!

Yeah they are going to go through all that expense so they can then rent a place to keep worthless equipment. Or they are going to spend all that to sell them on e-bay.

It's just like a computer, it will execute instructions until such instructions change, it's that simple if it recieves no new commands it will continue to function according to the last command. The only thing we might lose epg if it recieves it from satellite. Not complicated...no doomsday...

don't call just keep it, until they Demand it back...not gonna happen.

it's sad that you have to spend at least 300 bucks to get hd with directv! AFTER I ordered voom a dtv csr offered me hd with install for 149.00 after they knew I switched!!!! Bet they wont let me have it now!

i'll bet 1000 dollars they wont send boxes or people to collect the recievers- the company is dead why would they want them??? who installs used eguipment???? Use a little common sense if they had stayed in business and after a year you cancelled they MIGHT send a box to get it back but not...

Don't count on the OTA section still working. This has been discussed to death but the bottom line is it appears VOOM has to send a hit to the STB to have it continue to receive OTA. Well how about on the 29th unplug the dish before you go to bed, or try it now and see if it works. :) Yes...

That's a good point but if there's no guide it still wont be so bad as I'll only use it for local hd feeds in which case I would be watching dtv then switch to ota if it's in hd.

I would think that if the reciever dosen't get any more updates it would just continue to function as it does now barring any hardware problems -we should be good to keep them as ota recievers ....that's really half of why I signed up ...I could see it coming but I will miss voom too.
