    Problem with PrimeTime Recording

THANKS! That solved the issue! Works properly now. Dish Tech Support could not solve this problem. (Take that for what it is worth.) Another question about OTA reception: Can I use a USB tuner adapter to record OTA programs on the existing Hopper Hard Drive? Can they be recorded to an...

    Problem with PrimeTime Recording

I have 2 Hoppers. Recently, both have ceased recording PrimeTime programs. I know that a couple of local stations have been discontinued,(ABC, FOX) but NBC and CBS are still available, and show the PT banner on the Guide, but they will not record on PrimeTime. The DVR defaults are set to...

    Multiplexer on hopper?

Will a signal multiplexer work on a Hopper System? I would like to multiplex my Hopper with my outside antenna for local stations. The multiplexer has a DC passive port. anyone done this or have any advice? Thanks in advance for any help on this matter.

    Delete prime time recording?

Any way to prevent automatic Prime Time Recording? I would rather have the channel free to use the way I want it, not dedicated to Prime time. Or is this an necessary evil that I will have to tolerate? Their advertising said I would have 3 channels to record at will, but it did not say I would...

    Hopper with sling

Why do we have to start DVR recording before, and end it later than the start times of the programs to capture the whole program? The shows all start and stop at normal times. Just curious, why the difference in timing? Is the Hopper timer off,or not?

    2Hoppers on HomeAdapter

Thanks for all the help on my previous question, and I have another one that may seem simple to the experienced: Will a dip-lexer,which combines and then separates tv from satellite signal on same coax work on a Dish system, with Hoppers? This would allow local and satellite without a USB...

    2Hoppers on HomeAdapter

Thanks! At least I know that there is indeed some software involved in the process, not merely hardware.I suspected as much, but needed verification from someone that really knows. The details of the software are not really important, but to an old "Analog Guy" the mere existence of software is...

    2Hoppers on HomeAdapter

Ok,but what mystifies me is that both hoppers are getting the same signal, off of the same coax.Which ever hopper is turned on first,"grabs"" the signal, and will not let it pass thru the splitter.Well, it really does not prevent the signal from passing through, but the 2nd Hopper will not get any...

    2Hoppers on HomeAdapter

No,the hard wired system.Even when not wireless, there has to be some type of communication between the Duo2 node and the Hoppers to distinguish one from another, and to exclude the non-first receiver.

    2Hoppers on HomeAdapter

Ok, that I understand, but if all 3 LNB's are combined onto the coax feeding the hopper, why will a DC passing splitter not work to attach another Hopper? The signal has plenty of strength, and picture is excellent on either Hopper, but whichever Hopper powers up first has control, the other one...

    2Hoppers on HomeAdapter

Thanks,BigJohn I have that part covered, pretty well, thanks to everyone's valuable input. Still,I am curious about how it actually works. It has to be more than a signal combiner, or splitter,or else a simple DC Passing splitter would work on the Hoppers. It must actually be a network...

    2Hoppers on HomeAdapter

OK,that settles it. I will run separate coax RG6 to node. But out of curiosity, how do they actually split or select the channels at the Node? Is this via hardware, software, or a combination of both? Does each Host output have a separate address? There must be quite a bit of processing going...

    2Hoppers on HomeAdapter

Ok,I am not explaining things very well. I have 2 Hoppers with Sling,New,less than 6 months old. I want to run both Hoppers from a single coax, via wireless router connection. Running single Hopper is not a problem,I have RG6 from node to Hopper. Can I plug the first Hopper into a Wall...

    2Hoppers on HomeAdapter

Can I run 2 hoppers on a Home adapter(plug-to-internet)? One Hopper hard wired to duo-port,the other via wireless network? I have a 4 port wireless router with 2 spare ports,so can I simply plug it into a wall-plug adapter and then into the second Hopper from other adapter? If so,will I still...

    Moving joey to different location

OK,problem solved! It was a bad tap after all.1 good out of 3 taps.Brand new.poor quality control,I guess. Thanks to everyone for their help. Another question:Can I operate 2 Hoppers (with sling) from 1 coax,(coming from a duo-feed Host port)? If so,will I need an isolator between the 2...

    Moving joey to different location

The Hopper was connected directly to the node.I removed the coax and put it on the Tap, on the Node port.I put the Hopper on the Host port, and the Joey on the Client port.I even replaced the tap with another one in case it was defective.Same result. The Joey was previously connected directly to...

    Moving joey to different location

The Joey was connected to the dish node, client port, when it was upstairs.I moved it downstairs, where an existing RG6 coax was present from the Hopper to the downstairs bedroom. No splices or splitters, just a solid run of coax.By looking at the schematics on the Dish pages,I determined that I...

    Moving joey to different location

I have a Hopper with Joey, and I moved it from upstairs to downstairs. I put a Tap at the Hopper and connected to existing RG6 coax that was present at the Hopper location. Wire is tested and verified good. The existing upstairs wiring to Joey is connected to a client port at the dish on roof...
