    DIRECTV Announces New HD!

Much better yes! HAha! Btw, we have the same JVC TV. Love that old H-DILA but it's starting to get a little long in the tooth. Still produces a nice pic though with just a twinge of green push.

    DIRECTV Announces New HD!

Dude, you've been around as this forums as long as I have and have about as many posts- could you kindly at least get a semi-offensive avatar for yourself?

    DIRECTV Announces New HD!

Is there anything else I need to consider here ya think or am I good to pull the trigger on that Newegg link for the HR24? Besides the improved performance (which should be easy to do) are there any other good things like the new VIP922 from Dish has going for it? I saw the 922 in action at the...

    DIRECTV Announces New HD!

Sry- I have a two year commitment. But I just started it in Feb, 2010. So a new 24 month commitment would not be much change. And in my building, I have to go with either TW or DTV.

    DIRECTV Announces New HD!

I HATE cable. That I would even consider it shows only how much I despise the HR23. The HR23 is easily the worst HD dvr I have encountered. I will consider the HR24 tho. I am low on options at this point.

    DIRECTV Announces New HD!

Thanks. Doesn't seem too bad just afraid to invest anything further into DTV. I used to count on this place for opinions, but everyone around here who switched from Dish to DTV always bragged how great it was. It isn't. But I am desperate so I might take the plunge since I have to go with either...

    DIRECTV Announces New HD!

That's a fair enough point. I probably could look through here and find answers but what are they charging most current subs to get the HR24?

    DIRECTV Announces New HD!

That's great to hear. Just not sure what hoops I need to jump through to get it. I have only been with DTV for about 3 months and am seriously considering breaking my lease and going with TW Cable. I hate the HR23 that much.

    DIRECTV Announces New HD!

Are new installs being done with the HR24 or do they still use mostly the HR23?

    DIRECTV Announces New HD!

Great. Just a phone call to DTV away for me, right?

    DIRECTV Announces New HD!

Nope. I am stuck with the turd they gave me, an HR23.

    DIRECTV Announces New HD!

Can you tell me exactly what it is you like about the DTV DVR? It's a bleedin awful piece of hardware. The lag on it is unbearable.

Just got the $10/month Platinum charge removed...

Just so I am clear, Platinum does still exist for customers choosing the Turbo HD packages right? I just chatted with a rep and they told me that there is still a $10 for the Platinum package for any customers choosing Turbo.

Will current subscribers be able to upgrade to the Dish 922DVR? Complete with the new

No! Never! Better switch to D* now while you still have time! Sorry, just not in a good mood tonight. But that's a dumb question. Why would Dish limit the 922 to just new customers? I think that's what you are implying.

Heard a rumor that Dish would offer TurboHD to existing customers

I got the movie channel deal as well. Forgot to mention that. There are a few things out there right now that you can get a deal on if you talk to the right people. The trick with E* CS continues to be either email CEO, or make sure if you call to ask for Tech Support right up front. Tech...

Heard a rumor that Dish would offer TurboHD to existing customers

It's definitely a requirement to have all HD receivers to get Turbo (I don't think you need a long term commitment tho). CEO initially refused my request because I still had an old 311 listed on my account for some reason. I assured him there was no 311 in use and that my receivers were a 622...

Heard a rumor that Dish would offer TurboHD to existing customers

I got upgraded to Gold early last week by emailing CEO. I then called regular E* CS and had them bump it to Platinum. So nice to have my RSNs in HD back! Already watched 2 Laker games on it that I otherwise would have missed.

    Cancelling NHL CI

I had a similar problem. I usually get CI but decided that I probably am going to enough games as a season ticket holder for the Kings (will still probably do a half season of CI). I had the auto-renewal going and the first charge hit. I called up E* and got a nice girl who was all too happy...

    Denied TURBO

Sorry to res this thread like a n00b- but reading through it am I still accurate in saying that as an existing customer with the original HD Standalone pack ($29.99) that I still cannot get my RSNs (FSN and Prime Ticket) in HD? And that attempting to add the $5.99 Sport Pack will not work?

NHL Center Ice auto renew charge already!!!

I got the letter about the auto-renewal but did not realize they were going to hit my account so soon. They got me for the first installment already so I called them and told them I did not want to commit. They cancelled the plan and I'll figure out later whether or not I want it. I have...

At least Rave and Monsters are still there- whew! Both are really good channels.

    HD Only Package (denied)

I gotta say, the HD only pack kicks a lot of a$$. I've been saving some serious money, I get to keep on using my 622 and I get all the programming I want. But yea, outsourced CS blows no matter what it's for.
