    Connecticut Locals?

I'm in the same boat here in Wallingford. I've had pretty good luck using the CM4228 pointed generally North and pick up ABC/WB off the other side of the CM4288. No probs with ABC and a few minimal breakups with WB. Not bad when you consider the CM4228 is a "UHF-only" antenna..... I'm not...

Rsn And Nesnhd Alert!!!!! OFFICIAL PRESS RELEASE!

Therefore, I guess the whole topic of "moving" to another location to pick up local HD channels is a dead issue at this time for those with HR10-250 receiving the Mpeg2 signals (without going for the distant network waivers). Correct ? I wonder where I'd have to "move" to in order to receive...

Rsn And Nesnhd Alert!!!!! OFFICIAL PRESS RELEASE!

Scott, Thanks for the concise explanation - it was quite informative. :up Going along with the thinking about where to "move" if I wanted to receive local HD programming thru the dish rather than my touchy antenna, is the only real option moving to a location covered by the NY DMA ? It...

Rsn And Nesnhd Alert!!!!! OFFICIAL PRESS RELEASE!

Hard to believe that D* would p@ss off all the HR10-250 owners in the greater Boston area by basically rendering their HD DVR useless for HD Locals.

Rsn And Nesnhd Alert!!!!! OFFICIAL PRESS RELEASE!

Now I'm getting a little baffled. So, if I "move" to Boston, my HR10-250 will pick up the MPEG2 Channel 95, but no other HD channels from Boston ? I've got to imagine that not everyone in the greater Boston area has moved from the HR10-250's to the H20's. Therefore, I would assume that they...

Rsn And Nesnhd Alert!!!!! OFFICIAL PRESS RELEASE!

What a shame. The D* Rep I just spoke to had told me that when I "moved" to Boston, I wouldn't need a new dish or new equipment to pick get HD. According to the rep, my old equipment (HR10-250) would work fine and pick up all Boston HD Local channels.

Rsn And Nesnhd Alert!!!!! OFFICIAL PRESS RELEASE!

Damn. That's what I was worried about. I wonder if I would receive Boston HD locals over the Dish with the HR10-250, or since they've probably been switched over to Mpeg4, I may be out of luck with that as well ???

Rsn And Nesnhd Alert!!!!! OFFICIAL PRESS RELEASE!

Quick question (sorry if it's been answered already). If I "move" my servicing address to my brother's place outside Boston, will I then start picking up the other Boston HD stations (other than NESN) on my HR10-250 ? I'm wondering if I'd get the best of both worlds, HD Boston over the dish and...

    upconvert dvd players

Just be careful with the Oppo. Depending on which display you have, macroblocking can be quite bad. I can vouch for mixing the Oppo with a Samsung HLR-5067W - the results were catastrophic. Before all the flames begin, I've already had the display ISF calibrated, so the issue isn't at the...

    720p v 1080i

Did you make this resolution setting on the HR10-250 ? If so, where is that menu option ? Thanks.

HR10 HD Audio Problem w/ Samsung DLP

Yep, no such luck. Just got off the phone with Samsung Tech Support and they clearly knew about this and stated that if you select the Dolby Digital Out option on your HR10-250, the Samsung DLP cannot "down-code" the 5.1 dolby digital to output to the tv speakers.

HR10 HD Audio Problem w/ Samsung DLP

Hi all, Hooked up my new HR10 to my new Samsung DLP HLR5067W TV via the HDMI cable. The good news is that the picture is stunning, however, in the HR10 menu I set the Audio option to play & record in Dolby Digital when available. When I turn this option on, all video/audio on Standard non-HD...

    OTA Success..... and failure too

The ChannelMaster antenna receives signals from both sides, which theoretically should work out great here as my UHF and VHF signal are almost 180 degrees apart. I'm wondering if perhaps I need an attenuator (?!?!) Installed my OTA UHF/VHF antenna w/pre-amp and receive all UHF channells 20...

    OTA Success..... and failure too

Today was the day when I finally hooked up my ChannelMaster antenna, Winegard amp and optimized my signal strength via antenna location. Good news first : Using the Winegard UHF amp (with VHF passthru), NBC & Fox in Hartford to the North of me come in great. The amp boosted the signal from...

    OTA Antenna Installation Pricing

Is there a minimal signal strength I should be attempting to get ? I was quite happy to be close to 70, thinking that was pretty good for OTA. Any ideas on what's minimally acceptable ?

    OTA Antenna Installation Pricing

OTA Success After digesting all the help offered on this board, I tackled OTA this weekend for my brand-new DTV HR10-250. First, tried an indoor amped antenna. OK with ABC, no-go with anything else. Then, attached a ChannelMaster 3010 to a 5-foot mast and walked around my roof having my wife...

    OTA Antenna Installation Pricing

The channels are actually coming from 2 different orientations, 19 degrees and 242 degrees. However, since they're almost 180 degrees apart, I was thinking that a multi-directional should be able to handle it. The antenna I picked up at Lowe's was a Channel Master Stealth Outdoor Antenna 3010...

    OTA Antenna Installation Pricing

After doing a bunch of research and getting some great feedback from some of the members on this board, I'm going to try install an OTA antenna this weekend. However, just for interest, today I also contacted a local installer to get an idea on pricing. The guy I spoke to was really friendly...

    Newbie OTA / Multiswitch Question

Thanks for the advice. I think I'll initially try the non-amplified model due to my proximity to the transmitters. Do you think I can get away with just mounting it to my roof, or do you think I need to put it on a mast ?

    Newbie OTA / Multiswitch Question

Hi, Long time reader, first-time poster. Been reading a lot of info here, but wanted to get feedback on a question I have. I've just purchased the R10-250 and plan on hooking it up this weekend. I need to install an OTA to get the HD locals (I'm less than 15 miles from the transmitters)...
