Chawks, just add another receiver to you Directv account and install it up here. It will work fine. That way you're still paying Directv and it's still your account. You're just using it outside the U.S.

Hooking up a second DTV receiver will NOT allow you to record 2 shows at once on a Dual Tuner Series 2 TiVo. It only has one digital tuner in it (the other is analog). You can only record one one satellite channel at a time.

Quick update cavemantrader...i forced receiver to take software update and it seems to have fixed the problem. You should try it.

I also noticed when i ran system test my tuner 1 shows 85% and tuner 2 shows 90%. Also lnb shows okay. Cavemantrader what do you get under system test?

Exact same thing happened to me! No power outage here. Was watching tv and all of a sudden screen went black. Zero signal on all sats, checked upstairs and same thing. Nothing changed outside or inside, tried replugging power inserter then plugging back in...nothing. Obviously not just me...

Personally I would use a specialized finder. I used Accutrac III, worked well and saved me a lot of headaches. Just my personal view.

Peano, Just to let you know, yo do not need a SSN to get Directv. I know a lot of Canadians who have Directv who simply refused to give a SSN. Directv can not refuse service as they are not allowed by law to demand a SNN. It is private information and they can do a credit check through your...

Update...got my 5 lnb slimline dish...installed it myself in Calgary using Acutrac III sat finder....works great.

HR21 units arrived....B-Band Converters were in fact included in the box.

Maybe some of the posts have read are old. The directv site lists the B-Band converters needed for HR20 receivers. Solid Signal where I am looking at getting my equipment from also lists B-Band converters for HR20. Nothing mentioned for HR21. I can't even find a mention of the swmslimline dish...

You shouldn't have a problem getting Dish in Edmonton BUT you will need a bigger dish. DO NOT get the dish 1000.2. You will have problems where you are.
