    Buzz receiver and AC3

I was afraid of that. Oh well, I'll continue to be a one TV kinda guy for a while longer. Thanks for the clarification Iceberg.

    Buzz receiver and AC3

After reading Iceberg's review of the Buzz S2010F I'm a wee bit confused (but hey, that's not new) :-) The review was great, but I have one point of confusion about AC3 audio. Ice states in the review that the Buzz can't do AC3, but the receiver specifications say that it has an optical output...

What happened to Sadoun' web site?

I just tried it again with Firefox and I get the same results as yesterday. I can load the initial page, but clicking any links takes me to a blank screen. It works fine in IE though.

    Motor Drift?

Thanks for all the great suggestions! As I mentioned earlier, when I initially set my dish up it was dead on all across the arc using USALS and now USALS isn't even close. It doesn't appear to be elevation that's the problem. It's definitely azimuth as switching to 1.2 and bumping about five or...

    Rack Mounted FTA w/HD Setup

I think that most popular FTA receivers like the ones Pete mentioned are digital only. Maybe Pete or another member can confirm or deny that for us.

    Motor Drift?

Thanks Pete! I'll give that a shot. I like those solutions that don't involve me getting on a ladder in the winter time. :-) Although our winters here in Tennessee have been more like rainy seasons the last decade or so thanks to global warming.

    Rack Mounted FTA w/HD Setup

Being a network guy myself here's a possible solution that I propose: You could build a receiver like what you describe by building a PC in a rack mount case and slap one or more PCI DVB Sat cards in it and a NIC card and you could control it remotely over IP. The method of remote control would...

    Motor Drift?

Is there such a thing as motor drift? The reason I ask is that when I first installed my system my dish was aligned so that using USALS every bird was right on the money. Now after several months it's gotten to the point where USALS doesn't even get me anywhere close enough to the correct...

Satellite finder/meter and 22 KHz tone

That's a good question. Unfortunately I do not know the answer. :-) That might explain why my el cheapo meter has a light on it that says 22Khz tone detected though. I wondered why there would be a need for such an indicator. I always use it with a battery back though so I never had a voltage...

    76 CM Good to go?

I'm located in Tennessee and speaking from my personal experience with my 76cm dish I can say that you may not be able to receive some of the weaker transponders up there, but for 96% of the Ku FTA stuff up there you should be fine.

    Russia Today on IA5

I'm glad to hear about this new channel. I'm always happy at an opportunity to view the world from different viewpoints. It's up to the individual to separate the wheat from the chaff. I have a personal motto that has worked very well for me thus far in my life and that is that friends and...

    Having problems with Galaxy 10R

I'm betting you have a Pansat receiver. My Pansat does that 0-90 quality dance when the quality level is really really really low. What transponder are you looking at on G10R when it does this?

    Viewsat VS2000 Platinum Blind Scan

As ftadirect mentioned in the other post he references, there is a software update on the manufacturer's website that is supposed to add the blind scan feature for the Viewsat receivers. I don't have a Viewsat so I cannot speak from experience.

    Cold Weather and FTA

I too have noticed the cold weather effect you speak of. My guess is that it is due to the lower humidity in the air during really cold weather. As for the Republicans, keep on blaming them. God knows they are responsible for most of the evils in the world, FTA and otherwise. ;-)

Left and right arrows on the remote while on the movement option will get you what you want.

Low or no signal on G10R

Thanks for the tip CharredPC! Like Iceberg, mine is at 11719 now, but I'll try going lower when I get home tonight and post my results.

Low or no signal on G10R

Tron, how does one do the frequency tweaking you mention? Please forgive me if this is a stupid question.

I have noticed the quality level on some of the G10 transponders fluctuating lately.

Low or no signal on G10R

G10R is decent for me here in TN with a Winegard 76cm Invacom LNB. I have never been able to get the transponder with Retro Jams. Quality on that TP bounces between 0 and 10% with a 20% in there every great once in a while when the planets all align properly. I used to get all the PBS stations...

    Digital audio synchronization

Wow! I thought I was the only one with a DVD recorder that didn't have digital audio input. Maybe most of them are this way? Mine has a TOSLink out, you would think the engineer that designed it would go ahead and add a TOSLink input while they were at it, but sadly they did not. Montana PBS is...

    Digital audio synchronization

Mystery Solved After racking my brain for several hours I finally figured out why my digital audio coming from the 3500S was about half a second ahead of the video. It turned out to be something simple, as these things usually do. I have my Svideo and L/R audio outputs from the 3500S...

    AC3 and Dolby decoding Question

You can also use a SoundBlaster Extigy USB external soundcard. It will work as a stand alone Dolby Digital/AC3 decoder without a computer. I got a remanned one off eBay direct from Creative for $49 with warranty as well as a set of 5.1 speakers for $29. I think I'll be investing in some better...

PROBLEM: IA5 and other sats- getting IA5 with signal meter-NOTHING

From what you have said it sounds to me like you do indeed have a standard linear LNB. If you tighten the dish mounting bolts too much it can warp the dish, or your dish could have been damaged in shipping (if it was shipped that is). If you take the LNB arm off and lay the dish face down on a...
