Hooper Starting Up Everyday at the Same Time

We have a Hooper with Sling, a wired Joey and a wireless Joey in our RV. (The reason we have a Hooper with Sling instead of a Hooper 3 is that the built in automatic dish only has two cables going to the RV.) Everyday at about the same time (3:30 EST), the Joey display 88888 and 99999 errors...

    Mystery package from Dish

We paused our home service for six months. Shortly after calling to restore service, I received a return box in the mail. After three calls to Dish (the first two telling me to ignore the box), it was determined for some reason when I restored service they didn't restore one of my Joeys...

    Dish in RV

You are right, I missed your point and thought you were saying you had a dome that used 48 volts. The change from 12 ro 48 still requires different wiring.

    Dish in RV

A couple of more thoughts. You can't use a Hopper with a dome because the dome only receives one satellite at a time. The problem for me was that I wanted a Hooper at home. So instead of bringing the home receiver along as I had in the past, I purchased the 722K and started a pay-as-you-go...

    Dish in RV

My Winegard Road Trip and my Winegard Carryout both use 12 volts.

    Dish in RV

The short answer is yes, I use a 722K with a Winegard dome. The limitation is that the dome can only receive one satellite at a time so if you want to watch or record a second channel, it has to be on the same satellite. The setup still works for me because most of the satellite programs are...

    OTA adapter tuner guide question

When we arrive at a new location with our RV I can usually force the guide to refresh by clicking on the 30 second forward skip button (used to skip a day ahead) a couple of times. I then get a message that guide data is outdated and asking if I would like to refresh. This gets the satellite...

    Tired of Blackout Risks

This could easily be solved it really was 'Free Enterprise". Let a station withhold their service until their price is met. But also let the satellite/cable provider shop for outside stations that are asking for less money. This is 'Fee Enterprise' and adds completion where there is none now...

Using a Dish DVR as a stand-alone OTA recorder

Cheaper maybe, but after trying to schedule programs without a guide you will discover what is practical.

Using a Dish DVR as a stand-alone OTA recorder

To me it wouldn't be practical to use a satellite receiver without satellite service. As an alternative I would suggest that you look at DVR+ from Channel Master. It records two OTA channels (or watch one and record the other) and if connected to the Internet has a week long guide. Unlike...

    Dallas locals OTA

You might want to consider DVR+ from Channel Master instead of Tivo. Tivo has a monthly charge and the DVR+ doesn't. It has two tuners so you can record 2 programs or watch 1 and record another. The program guide goes out a week (with Internet.) We use it on our RV. The only downside I see...

    VPN Providers

I just switched to proXPN. While they have a free service, most will want (or require) the paid service. This one works on my computer, tablet and smart phone. It's much better than the VPN service I was using who were impossible to contact and much more complicated to set up.

    Webhosting

I use SiteGround. You can get the first 3 years for 3.95/month and the hosting cost includes the cost of your domain name if you get it from SiteGround and don't bring it with you (you own it and can take it with you.) After the introductory period, the price changes to $6.95/month for 3...

Not all shows available for transfer

We just moved to our pay-as-you-go RV account from our home account and I was going to transfer unwatched TV shows to the external hard drive. None of the PTAT show were available for transfer. They didn't show up even though I had created timers for them and they showed up in My Recordings...

These are a few of my least favorite things (Hopper Issues)

I think last night's problem (Elementary) was related to just that program. I didn't watch it until late this afternoon and AutoHop was still not there. Other programs from last night on the same network had AutoHop. Jim

These are a few of my least favorite things (Hopper Issues)

While fortunately it doesn't happen often, for me the biggest problem for me is the fact PTAT can't recover after a rain interruption. If the signal is interrupted for weather, when the signal returns only the ABC station has been recorded. The CBS signal is there if you go to live TV, but...

DISH on the road, in RV

Several comments on the subject: You do NOT need to buy the Dish 211 receiver. Any receiver that you BUY can be used on the pay as you go plan. Dish has never recommended any receiver with a hard drive for RV's. We have used four different hard drive models without a problem (currently...
