    What about us Charter Members!

Now you know one of the reasons they went out of business ;) Lob

    Attention VOOMers switching to cable!

"My only grip so far is that I cannot get sound on my analog stations in real time thru my A/V system. Get it on all of the digitals and playbacks tho" Spa, I went through that when I first set my system up. There is an obscure setting on my Sony rcvr which allows it to accept EITHER a...

How do I recieve an OTA signal from a nearby market?

The other option, if you have more than one VOOM box :) is to run two separate antennas, and use two inputs on your TV, one from each box. Lob

    It's yours

I would think that before you sold something, you would hook it up yourself to make sure it works? Lob

    It's yours

And that's a nice puzzle to solve. I actually just use my cable guide, but I've always had digital cable anyway, and never dropped 'em when I went with VOOM, just because of the DVR :) Now if I could just configure a PC to sit over there, so that I could record from the firewire port on my...

    It's yours

Nope...wasn't trying to pick on you at all...Just seemed to be a funny way to word it, that's all. You should see some of the goof's I'VE made. Hell...probably have if you've been here awhile :) Lob

    It's yours

I like how there are no gauarantees that disconnecting the sat dish will stop the kill signal ;) Guess that means they plan on having all the local digital stations send it out for them, OTA? LOL Lob

    It's yours

You let someone jerk your chain WAY too easily LOL JL was referring back to a post made earlier, and it was all "tongue in cheek". C'mon! Wake up! lol Lob

    It's yours

So how many people are now going to complain because they have to pay a $20 disposal fee for "hazardous electronic waste"? LOL Lob

    sending back equipment

To me it means that they send someone out to remove their dish, and they patch the holes that get left behind with a silicon sealant. I'm not asking for a 50yr warranty here, just patch the holes in a reasonable manner. Lob

    sending back equipment

"For many who have switched to cable the OTA is no longer of value and is simply an eye sore." Actually, OTA is much better than cable in terms of PQ. That doesn't change the point though...it's all or nothing. I've been saying this in various threads for the past month. Was even called...

    New voom box and OTA?

Box has to be activated at least once before you can get access to the menus that allow you to scan for locals/OTA. Lob

    sending back equipment

"So any excuses about climbing on roofs and endangering oneself or leaving holes in roofs don't add up" Well...yeah...they do add up. They add up to me not wanting a sat dish on my roof from some belly-up venture, period. Lob

    VOOM gone OTA here

The VOOM OTA antenna that most folks got was powered from the VOOM box, IF it was hooked up properly. Even with that, it's a crappy antenna. Lob

If Charter Communications Is Available In Your Area-Read This

When Charter first bought out the cable company here, the schedule was for 2002 for digital cable. After Charter bought them, they made it 2001, and came in 6mos ahead of schedule, so take the 2008 with a grain of salt. Lob

    VOOM gone OTA here

Just replace the crappy wing with a $22 RatShack UHF and you should be fine. Mine gets much better reception than the wing, so they never even connected it after testing it. Lob

It's Official - VOOM ON DISH NETWORK!

I don't think I'll be hopping on the Dish wagon just yet. I'm glad someone has picked up some of VOOM's content, BUT, I don't understand the requirement to PAY $250 for the ability to LEASE their DVR ;) I have a dual-tuner HD-DVR now from my cable company. It costs me $7.95/mo, period. I...

    OTA STB Time Bomb?

Bottom line is that if they're using v1.4 of the jabber code, it no longer relies on the time domain reflectometer, so the wave extractor doesn't enter into it. Lob

    OTA STB Time Bomb?

"Maybe the receiver will still work if they plasmorize the reflective tribblewonky." And that's not easy to do. First, you have to get it parallized to the horizontal, and then after that, you'll need to make sure there are no yabbies left in the jabber code. :) Lob

Voom to disable OTA tuner in STB?

The lack of a rental program was one of the things that made me hold off for as long as I did. My opinion was (and is) that the technology was changing far to quickly for me to drop $750. Bottom line is that the people who bought took a risk. Some folks bought Edsels, too. Yugos didn't...

Voom Box is DEAD and no OTA

Maybe I've missed it, but I didn't see where anyone got shut off prematurely? One person ASKED to be terminated, due to bad advice from a CSR (imagine THAT!). Lob
