MSG and fox sports ny are 2 very important channel in NY if you are a ranger, knicks, islanders or Devils fan. Also these channels were being held hostage by Cablevision, as the owner of cablevision also owns the channels.

Why is there such widespread speculation for these channels on Directv? Everyone had them on their upcoming rumored channel lists. It would seem obvious that cablevision keeps a tight reign on these channels to try to keep New Yorkers tied to optimum cable.

It is pretty pathetic that DISH doesn't carry the SD feed of YES yet. I stuck around with Charlie for a year after it launched waiting for them to pick it up. Went to Direct and haven't looked back. He can't gain any new converts in NY without adding YES to his channel guide.

WHat happened to the rumor that MSG HD and FSNY HD were supposed to lite up in October. I know the Dolan's own Cablevision and the channels but the talk last year was theat this was worked out and the games were going to be in HD.

Don't do it. Go to DBStalk.com and read all the issues/complaints/bugs of the new box. The HDTIVO is rock solid (more or less) while the new box if a work in progress. if you don't need the MPEG HD locals then hold off until they work out all of the bugs.
