    119 satellite

The circuitry inside the LNB is actually two different units that are joined together. You can think of them as units A and B. In order for your setup to work, you had to power both the C and L from the same unit. In other words C1 and L1 or C2 and L2.

    ? FTA and TimeTrax

I don't have this toy, so I am just guessing. how does the connection between your XM/Sirrius rcvr and your PC look like? My understanding is that this is just a "timeshift" SW and it really doesn't matter what you feed it with but please note that I could be wrong, and there is some...

    Space available?

As a second choice, if the program is not available in US, you may want to consider getting the series on DVD. I think most if not all of them are available on DVD which is my preference (DD or DTS sound with much higher video quality short of HDMI HD of course)

Signal Quality / BER Globecast Software update

As already explained, you want as low of BER as possible. So, in your case, it looks like it is seeing 1 in 1000 bits error in average with a jump every once in a while. This is normal behavior.

    Intermodulation products

Please take this with a grain of salt as it may not apply to what you are trying to achieve since there is not much description in your message, but here is one approach: http://www.nokia.com/library/files/docs/Kivekas_ISCAS_2004.pdf

    superdish config info..help

The channel that you are looking for is on IA5 and assuming that you have a working dish subscription and the dish is pointed to the appropriate satellites, you will not get what you are looking for. You need an additional dish and a 30" at a minimum to receive signals from IA5@97W.

    4:2:0, 4:2:2 and HD

Tron has covered your first question very nice. I'd add that in a perfect world one would want the 4:4:4 sampling, but since bandwidth and processing are at a premium and because the human eye is less sensitive to color than intensity, the chroma components of an image need not be as well...

    orthomode feed

4:2:2 refers to an MPEG video sub-sampling algorithm/method. As mentioned by Al, it can be employed for HD transmissions but not necessarily.

What is a good receiver with motor control

Ok, reading the recent responses and also considering the price, it looks like Traxis 3500 is the best option. It looks like it does USLAS but it wasn't mentioned in the manual that I found online. Oh well. Now, heading to PSBSatellite.com :D

what is the ultimate FTA set up???

I concur with everything above. But why are you stopping at 500GB. If you have that much cash to afford all the above, I am sure you can throw out a few more to get a SAN box with Terabytes of storage and a PC to program all of your favorite shows to record from your bzillion dishes that you...

Possible Price drops in FTA receivers??

Al, to be clear on this, if the rcvr's SW has been altered from the factory standard (whether the first one that was shipped with it or a later rev that was released by the OEM), you need to reflash it with the factory code to bring it back to standard operation mode and a factory reset will not...

What is a good receiver with motor control

Great, thanks guys. [detour :) (suggestion:after reading all the banned and slammed posts, we need to have a special area where all of these threads are moved to. makes a nice "R&R" reading area ;) ] I took a few moments and did some research on the rcvr's that have been suggested here...

What is a good receiver with motor control

Thanks Sweepy. I am interested to know how easy it is to work with the motor control feature of the receiver? as an example I would like to store a few locations as sat1, sat2, sat3, etc and be sure that it can go to these locations repeatedly. Most importantly is probably the "null" position...

    Tool experience to pass on

Concurring with "Lynskyn" if you follow the recommended procedures, using the right f-connector (outdoor version with silicon) and put dielectric grease on top of that, it will never fail. I have many conenctors outside that have been there for years under rain and never had a problem. I do...

    Coolsat Explanations for a newbie

    Coolsat Explanations for a newbie

Signal strength is a representation of sensing a signal (any signal for that matter and in many cases it could be background noise). Quality on the ther hand is when the digital signature and characteristics of the signal are being measured. I.e transponder freq: 12345 GHz, BER:xyz and S/N R...
