Are E*** CSR's really incompetent or do they do it on purpose?

CSR's should be CRS's.....Cant Remember Sh*t I am an installer and I agree that they seem incompetent. I am able to get a csr without having to wait like the customers do. I have had the call center call my office/FSM twice after I asked who did they blew to get their job. During the week I...

    The Last Straw

my office said that it may take sometime for the customers to receiver their 622. I don't remember if they said if it was a shortage or some of them were defective. I'll have to get back to you on that

    VERY upset customer

i am a dnsc tech from pittsburgh. I am a remote tech for dish though. I have the van at home. I will, permitting room in my van, carry extra equipment even though I may not need it that day. I carry the extra receivers because I am usually modifying the work order because the call center...

    Install Today

that's really great you had a good install. I am a DNSC tech and I always try to do a good job. The other day I went to a 622 upgrade and the customer had his 622 already installed and downloaded. He already had a 500 dish and a dish for 61.5. It made my job of activating the receiver a...

Could Dish Signal be interfering with my Cable Modem?

i don't see how our dish system could be affecting your cable modem. I think it is an issue with your cable modem. Is your cable modem plugged into an electrical outlet or a power strip? maybe you should check the voltage from the electrical outlet. I have been to a couple service calls...

    Ground

you shouldn't ground a switch, but if there is no ground block in front of it, then I'd ground it.

Is Dish THAT popular? (Install woes)

I have a bunch of spacers that we used to use. I don't do siding installs that much. I have told the customer that I may crush their siding and most of the time they ok the placement of the dish. Usually, if i do anything out of the ordinary as long I write up a small note and have the...

Does Dish offer an on time guarantee?

i can get 4 am jobs, not usually all installs. I just tell dispatch that I won't be making them all, especially if it is a job with some double bangers (two 322's or 625's) I get service calls, but it always seems I have to do a rerun on of the job. The area I work in the jobs are usually...

    622 Install Nightmare!!

we can't get dpp44 switches that much any more. Too many installers were putting them in when they weren't needed. we were told that we have to use 34 switches. I always try to carry a little bit of everything on my van even if I don't need the receivers I carry extras. The turnover rate...

I hope this is not a dumb question.

the only question I have is Why are you doing a weekly check switch? If you are not having any problems, you really don't need to do a check switch.

    DISH installation from HELL!

When I walk into the customer's house, I always review the programming and the equipment being used. Sometime's the work order is wrong, especially since we have a few Sales Partners who promise locals in area that cannot get locals and forget to mention the phone fee.

How many of you are Tech's/installers?

I worked for Baker Installations out of the south hills before I got laid off. Then I was picked up by Pro Cable Service and work there for sometime then got laid off from there. I installed the cable modem and worked a lot out of town which I got real tired of because I did not have a...

Is Dish THAT popular? (Install woes)

a pole mount is good idea, especially if you don't want it on the roof. I always try to install the dish in a spot that is easy to service (if possible), especially when it snows. I have installed to vinyl and the metal siding without crushing it. I get the customer to sign off on it and I...

    Dish wouldn't activate 622

i don't understand why you could not activate your receiver. It should not matter what the install date is. If I modify the work order, sometimes it changes the install date and I must call my office to pull it back in for that day because it will not activate under my tech number. If I don't...

Does Dish offer an on time guarantee?

sometimes it is difficult because dispatch will give us 2 or 3 8-12 AM jobs. My office does not provide us with Cell phones (DNSC office) and I am not going to use my phone because I do not get reimbursed (except on weekends which are free). We do have a Nextel, but only the 2 way radio...

What's a "true professional"? Installers please critique...!

It's the bad techs that make our job harder, whether contractor or DNS. I hate going to a service call and while I am there having to fix another tech's work, I have when they hop onto 59, not tacking the cable down, using low frequency barrels or ground blocks. The call center doesn't...

What's a "true professional"? Installers please critique...!

our office basically told us that if your close enough to ground the system, ground. 97% of my jobs are grounded. I basically go through almost the same thing. I understand. We get nailed on a new install if there is a troubled call within 12 days. the guys from the office pre-call. I...

Problems with India call center, exec office take note.

Can you trunk at dpp44 of a dp34?

    cable length

a tech at our office ran the cable about 700 feet with a couple in-line amps with legacy equipment. I have never done that, but I have run cable almost 250 feet to legacy equipment. But I would generally stay within 150 feet just to be safe.
