    Dish. Won't. Let. Go.

It sounds easy but not when he keeps asking if there is anything he can do to keep you. He kept trying to have me compare them side by side for a month but, of course, I'd have to call back to cancel. I was thinking...HD DirecTV vs. my SD Dish feed...how am I supposed to compare that. He...

    DTV Off-Air Antenna

I don't know what DTV is offering but I just hooked up my Winegard Squareshooter yesterday and I'm pretty blown away. I'm picking up stations that I didn't know existed and my local CBS HD looks better than the DirecTV CBS HD feed. It's worth the extra few bucks to get the amplified version.

    diplexer problem

I just had that problem yesterday. In my case it was a powered antenna and my theory is that there was too much of a power drain between the switch and the receiver due to the antenna. I finally found a configuration for the power adapter for the antenna that allowed me to see the satellite...

    Dish. Won't. Let. Go.

I just hooked it up a few hours ago...so I don't know if I like it yet. One thing that concerns me is the compression on a few channels. Comedy central looks like ass.

    Dish. Won't. Let. Go.

I finally made the jump to DirecTV today for the HR-10 250 after 5 years with Dish. I just wasn't that confident about the 921. The Dish guy wouldn't let me go. I had to listen to a long speech about how it's not just about the technology and that DirecTV's stock is dropping since the...

    New Installation w/amplified OTA antenna

Yes, I'm a newb. I have the installers coming out this week to install my new Triple LNB Dish w/HR-10 250. I bought a Winegard SquareShooter SS-2000 (the amplified model) and two Terk diplexers. I will require two drops to the HR-10 250 and I obviously want to diplex the antenna feed on one...

Are people giving up on the 921?

I just switched to DirecTV though I haven't disconnected the Dish yet. I was hoping to stay with the DP44+ one-cable run but didn't want to have a second dish for CBS HD and any others that come along. The whole OTA issue may be a non-issue for many of us if NBC and ABC are in HD on satellite...

New To High Definition Satellite ...

That's good to hear. With the NBC HD announcement and ABC HD coming soon I wish I hadn't ordered the OTA antenna. With the shipping costs it's just not worth it for me to send it back. I didn't know DirecTV offered antennas. I bought my setup from Valueelectronics.com and my Wineguard...

New To High Definition Satellite ...

Thanks Neutron. I hope I can pay the installer a little extra to install the off air antenna for me.

New To High Definition Satellite ...

I just ordered a DirecTivo system tonight (switching from Dish) with the Triple LNB. I will only have one dual tuner HD Tivo. I am also purchasing a Wingard Squareshooter OTA antenna to mount on the dish. I'm trying to figure out which diplexer to order and I'm not sure if I need a single...

    Hitachi 46W500 vs. Toshiba 46HX83 ?

I'm glad I spotted this thread. I saw the new 51F510 in Circuit City. It's less than 21" deep which isn't bad for a CRT. It's convinced me to take the HD Plunge. However, should I drop the extra $500 on the Hitachi S series. How much of a difference does the 5 element vs. the 4 element lens...

    DishPro Plus 44 Switch Review

I need the OTA for HD. That's my whole issue right now. I'm buying an HD and I'm having trouble choosing between staying with Dish (921) and moving to DirecTV (HD Tivo). I would stay with Dish if I was doing a one-cable run (DP44+) but if I need to drill any holes for more cables I might as...

    DishPro Plus 44 Switch Review

I might be able to pull it. But I'm still left with another issue you covered but that no one has tried yet. If you can't diplex an OTA antenna feed then the benefit of the one cable run from the DP44+ is lost on me.

    DishPro Plus 44 Switch Review

If I have a 6'-10' run of the older RG59 in the wall between my RG6 drop from the Dish to the receiver am I "SOL" with the DP44+?

    Need Advice - Moving E* to D*

FYI - I contacted Sonora Designs directly today about their stacking/destacking equipment. Apparently it does not do the job for the HD DirecTivo that requires access to all three orbital slots. You would still need two cable runs. The equipment will work with all other DirecTivos, however.

    Need Advice - Moving E* to D*

mini1, The Sonora Dual DIRECTV® DStacker for TiVo Receivers (D575D) looks perfect and would be worth every penny but I'm going to have to plead ignorance on getting it done. I'm looking at the home installations on Sonora's website and it looks like I may need more than the D575D alone. As...

    Need Advice - Moving E* to D*

Hey guys, I've decided to make the switch from E* to D* too so that I can get a DIRECTV HD DVR HR10-250. My only concern is the cabling. Does D* offer any solutions like E* for single cable runs. I will just have the one dual tuner receiver but I would rather not drill a bigger whole in the...
