I have this problem on NBC HD regularly and Dish just says I'm an idiot. Now I have been getting very raspy voices and they turn high pitched on any HD channel, again I don't know what I am talking about and there's no problem though.

My townhome was built in 1991 and they used the existing cabling and everything is fine. You should be fine with your existing cable, but if you're going to upgrade use at least RG6.
