My Father-in-Law's H23 is the exact opposite. It gets the SD channel and has a 771 message on HD

I would have thought signal strength also, but most of mine range from 90-100 on all satellites. Also a reset usually corrects the problem, but thats several minutes of missed viewing, interupted recordings, etc. I didn't mean to use this thread as my personal rant, but no one should be led to...

I agree to an extent, but for all that has been improved on the HR20's, seems like the same and more problems arise with each new model.

HR20-100: missed or blank recordings, loss of all Mpeg 4 HD channels at least once or twice weekly, slow remote and guide performance. HR-21-100: continous "cannot read access card" errors, starting and ending recordings early, and painfully slow remote and guide performance.

Well, honestly, there is still plenty wrong with it. Now don't get me wrong, I've had both D* and E* and I hope I never have to return to E*, but there is plenty of room for improvement with the D* HDDVR's.

Once again the so called leader in HD still doesn't have Huntsville, AL (DMA #82) on the radar. Comcast and Dish already do. :confused:

Is this a new install? Your installation should include cable. You do need dual coax lines for the HR20.

No, weather was good. It would pixel up like it was about to lose the signal completely, then it would be fine.

Last night I noticed during Ugly Betty and Grey's Anatomy the picture broke up a few times. Also happened on Dancing with the Stars a few nights ago. This was on the ABC HD feed from NY. Did anyone else have this problem? Just wondering if I need to do some troubleshooting or if it is from the...

What brand/model tv do you have? I had this problem through HDMI on my Samsung plasma. A firmware update for the tv has apparently fixed the issue for me.

Today at 12PM All channels were working. H20 and HR20 sw 18a 498 had black screen until today.

My daughter has an R15 in her room and hates it. I'm thinking about replacing it with an older Tivo unit. R10 maybe? Any suggestions on which Tivo receiver to look for? I assume they are no longer supplied by DTV or covered under the protection plan. Thanks
